Jon and Aimee buy their dream home at The Bridge When Jon Stokes and Aimee Farnworth were looking to buy their first home together, they found everything they were searching for at The Bridge. The couple decided their new home needed to have more space as well as be located near to Jon’s family – and discovered our development offered them everything they were after. Jon, an actor and musician who works in London, says: “Having rented together beforehand we developed a good idea of what we were looking for, which is why we chose a three-bedroom property as we wanted somewhere with more space. “After viewing a few other properties in the area which didn’t fit the bill we actually stumbled across an advert for The Bridge, so we went to visit the showhome and we fell in love with it!” “What we like about The Bridge is that the intention is to build a community and not just houses,” says Jon. “We both work in London regularly and it can be quite solitary, so to be part of a community is a really nice thing.

The excellent customer service provided by Taylor Wimpey staff has helped ensure that Jon and Aimee’s home buying experience is hassle-free. Jon continues: “The Sales Executives, Lisa and Suzanne, have been brilliant – they are really friendly and always pleased to see us. “Even when we went to choose our Options and Aimee was a bit indecisive they were always happy to give us their time and offer us cups of tea. They made it a very easy and personal experience and I’ll probably still pop in to say hello after we’ve moved in! “They were also great because they gave us space to look around – when I took my mum along to see the showhome I was able to walk round and talk about it like it was our home. “Steve the Site Manager was also fantastic – he’s shown us all of the plans for our house and told us everything from where the extractor fans are located through to the pipe work. They’re always keeping us up to date which is really reassuring, and we’re really excited now as we feel attached to the house already.”

Jon and Aimee found our development offered the perfect location to purchase their new property. “When we were looking around the showhomes we noticed how peaceful and quiet the area is – the development is surrounded by a lot of land yet we’re spoilt for travel links,” continues Jon. “Being in Dartford is ideal for Aimee as she travels around for work and we have great links to the M25 and Dartford Crossing on the doorstep, while I can use the high speed train to travel to London. “Dartford town centre is also on the up as there’s a lot of investment going into it. There’s also a large retail park nearby and Crayford town centre is only down the road, plus we’re only minutes from Bluewater Shopping Centre.” Jon adds: “Our first experience of buying couldn’t have been better – everyone at Taylor Wimpey has been so helpful and if I was going to move house again I’d want them to build it. It’s been a really positive experience and in no way stressful, so it’s been an absolute pleasure.”

Slap band donation reflects our support for Walk to School Campaign We are helping to shine a light on the importance of leaving the car at home and walking to school by supporting Walk to School Month. This takes place every October and encourages parents to walk their children to school instead of travelling by car.

The aim of the campaign is to promote healthy lifestyles – especially in the light of growing concern about levels of childhood obesity and fitness – and reduce the number of vehicles on the roads. We have provided 270 slap bands to encourage pupils at Dartford Bridge Community Primary School in Dartford to walk to school – and help keep them safe on the journey. It is part of a campaign that will see more than 12,000 slap bands provided to children across the country. Jason Stokes, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, says: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our high-quality new homes, which is why we are working in partnership with Dartford Bridge Community Primary School as part of the Walk to School initiative. “We understand that family life can be busy, but walking to school is one of the easiest ways for children to increase their level of physical activity and get fit. We hope our contribution will help inspire families to swap the car for a safe walk to school instead.”

Sarah Randall Head of School at Dartford Bridge Community Primary School, says: “We encourage the children to walk to school to promote a healthier lifestyle and to reduce traffic outside the school. We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this generous donation which will help raise the profile of the Walk to School initiative among pupils and parents alike.” Walk to School is an annual nationwide campaign that promotes the benefits of walking to school, which results in healthier young people and less traffic on the roads. Residents at The Bridge enjoy a bouncy Big Lunch A Big Lunch event organised by residents at The Bridge got a bit of extra bounce when we sponsored the hire of a bouncy castle and a bouncy assault course for the event, on Sunday 7th June. The Big Lunch is part of a national event to get neighbourhoods to eat and chat together on the first Sunday in June. The Bridge’s main Big Lunch organiser, Bart Woodhouse of The Beacon church and our Sales Executive Lisa Veness enjoyed the Big Lunch with the many young visitors.

The Bridge’s main Big Lunch organiser, Bart Woodhouse of The Beacon church, says: “It’s all about helping to create a sense of community and neighbourliness.” Mr Woodhouse said this year’s event was really more like a fete, with stalls, attractions, a cake competition and a raffle for the local Ellenor Lions hospice in memory of a well-known local community figure who has recently died. Nigel Russ, development manager at The Bridge for FirstPort Management Company, working on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, adds: “If you live on the development, this is a good family event, a good social networking event and great fun.” The Big Lunch started in 2009 as a series of simple community get-togethers. In 2014, 4.83 million people took to their streets, gardens and community spaces for the sixth annual Big Lunch. Jason Stokes, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, says: “As a housebuilder, we are always delighted to support the community in which we are building."
