I am the owner of  Tiny H Toys .  By the way, I’m the “Tiny H” in Tiny H Toys (my husband’s idea).  All my friends call me Tiny. I’ve been breeding Toy Australian Shepherds for a little over four years now after my passion for these precious little toys finally got the best of me. My husband, John, and I are the owners of Hodge Ranch. We are one of the most reputable ranching families in South West Texas.  Contrary to the old saying, “everything grows big in Texas,”  I selectively match my dams and sires to produce the most stunning, lovable and true-to-breed (10″ to 13″) Toy Aussies with show champion genetics you will find anywhere.

Her herding instinct came to the front when she was chosen Top Herding Dog.  She also placed 5th in agility, even though this was the first agility class she has ever participated in.  Fancy demonstrated to the world, she has it all….conformation, herding instinct, and agility.  The Australian Shepherd became popular back in the 1950s when they were featured rodeo performers. They have become very popular in the past few years due to the combination of their small size, high energy level and endurance.
The toy Australian Shepherd is intelligent and eager to learn. It is loyal and devoted, bonding closely with the family. Aussies are confident and lively and are known to behave like puppies, even as adults. They are affectionate and kindhearted. They also have the natural instinct of herding and the same conformation and looks of the Standard Australian Shepherd. They are proof “love comes in TOY packages.” Toy Aussies make excellent house dogs with proper exercise. They can also tolerate the out-of-doors in most areas with protection from extreme temperatures.  They have a life span of between 10 to 15 years. They typically have 3 to 5 puppies in a litter.  A Toy Aussie is fun to train because they learn quickly and are usually eager to please and adapt to a wide variety of sports and games.  The Toy Aussie requires little grooming but a thorough combing is required when shedding. Bathe them only when necessary.Australian Shepherd Puppies for Sale Various theories abound regarding the Australian Shepherd's origin.
In spite of its name, this breed was most likely fostered somewhere in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain. They were so named due to the association they had with the Basque shepherds that travelled from Australia to America during the 1800s. These dogs were called many names, including Pastor Dog, Spanish Shepherd, California Shepherd, New Mexican Shepherd, and the Bob-Tail. Agile, adaptable and animated, the Australian Shepherd exists for his work, which is still herding livestock as well as working as an all-around ranch and farm dog. If he is to be completely happy, he must have a sense of purpose as well as being kept active. These dogs are quite versatile and highly intelligent. For this reason, they shine in AKC events like herding, obedience, and agility. Their coats can be red merle, black, blue merle and red, either solid or with white markings. The Australian Shepherd is a high energy breed with a natural and intense drive for herding and guarding. They must have vigorous exercise every day.
