Best Christmas Lights Metairie

Metairie couple creates Christmas light wonderland, complete with 'Star Wars' music Metairie couple gets into the holiday spirit with Star Wars-themed display on December 03, 2015 at 11:15 AM, updated Drive past the Christmas lights at 5105 Avron Blvd., and, at first blush, they look fairly typical, if a little enthusiastic. Turn your radio dial to 88.9 FM, though, and the display becomes a wild homage to music from "Star Wars" and vintage Christmas songs. From the tip of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer's nose to the scrolling image of Santa Claus exploring the window and lighted, gift-wrapped presents on the lawn, the displays blink crazily, acting out some kind of holiday light morse code in time to the music. The project was developed by newly-minted Metairie residents Leo Muralles and Sitela Alvarez. The couple moved from the Lower Garden District to the Avron Boulevard home over the summer, and the lights simultaneously celebrate their first home purchase and their festive holiday spirit.

"Why not go big?" "It was the right time to do it." Alvarez's and Muralles' neighbors have been supportive of the couple's voracious Christmas spirit, although it probably helps that, just a stone's throw away lies the former Al Copeland home, which was famous for its annual holiday light displays. "We didn't want to scare the neighbors too much," Muralles said. "For Halloween, we did a skeleton theme with the Saints, and it served as an ice breaker for us. As we were hammering it in -- and this is a retired neighborhood with a lot of elderly people -- so while we're hammering, they're like, 'Oh wow, somebody's bringing some spirit in.'" Alvarez and Muralles split the workload of creating the sequenced display, and they'll run it through Jan. 1. Anyone with an FM radio can swing by the house, they said, and tune to 88.9 to listen in and watch the lights dance in time to the music. And for next year, they said, they'll go much bigger. "We're going to add more," Alvarez said.

"We are going to have a giant Christmas tree, these bushes will be giant presents.
