"[The owner] was quite insistent that we not stay. The owner wouldn't allow us to come in because he said it was a service dog in-training, and not a service dog."Prest says, they went to a neighboring restaurant to eat, after being kicked out of TimberCreek."
They were very nice to us, they said we are sorry you had that experience. Come in and enjoy your meal, so we did," Prest said, who wants the public and business owners to appreciate the importance of service dogs. Unfortunately this was in fact a misunderstanding of ours," said co-owner and general manager, Devin Kelly. "We fully admit that we made the wrong decision absolutely. We have changed all company policies effective immediately, to adhere to proper state guidelines. Through the good and through the bad, it led us to be able to do some more research to become more educated."Kelly argued that their service dog policy before this incident was rather strict, because they had experienced instances of fraudulent service dogs being brought into their establishment. Kelly adds, they will now hold training sessions with staff and managers so employees can better adhere to the needs of disabled people and any type of service dog.To read the PA state law that regulates service dogs, CLICK HERE.For more information on Canine Partners for Life, CLICK HERE.
