How Fostering Changed My Life:The Untold Story by Simon Welchlin In the fall of 2004, I took my very first breath of fresh air. My feet touched the ground and I searched effortlessly for my mother for food. In those first few months of life, I was surrounded by my litter-mates and my mother. I learned how to play, snuggle, and bark. Then the day came in late fall when I was shipped off to a family. I was very young and do not remember if I was put on the streets, in a pet store, or in a little boy’s hand first. I do remember I went somewhere.Read More →Our MISSIONFind out about our organization, mission, our methods, and the results of our efforts for our animals.Learn More →ADOPT A BoxerReady to take the next step? Tucson Cold Wet Noses is a non-profit dog rescue and adoption organization founded by a group of local dog lovers whose goal is to rescue dogs from the local pound (Pima Animal Care Center or PACC) and find them their perfect homes through successful adoptions. All of our dogs live inside with outside access for play and "business". We do not allow our dogs to be adopted out as "yard dogs". Tucson Cold Wet Noses is not a breed-specific rescue, but we do get our share of purebreds, especially pit bulls and pit bull mixes; Tucson as well as all of Pima County has many pit bulls and pit bull mixes, many of whom find themselves at Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) for adoption. The bulk of the dogs we rescue and later adopt out are larger sized, furry mutts and senior rescue dogs because they have a tougher time finding adoptive homes. Click here to read more about us. We are sorry, but we have our hands full taking in dogs from Pima County Animal Care Center and there are always more waiting for rescue. We cannot take in dogs or cats from the general public. We only have room in our foster care system for rescued pets. By fostering rescue dogs in our homes, the fosters of Tucson Cold Wet Noses get to know each dog's personality, likes, dislikes, and little quirks so you don't go home with a cat chaser if you have 10 cats at home, or an ankle biter if you babysit your grandchildren every day!
Fostering our rescue dogs helps to ensure a successful adoption based on your lifestyle and situation. A successful adoption is a perfect match for both the new family and the dog. Please contact Terri to foster a wonderful rescued dog from Pima County Animal Care Center. Health dogs are just waiting for their forever homes. Email Terri and ask about our foster to adopt program. If you are ready to start fostering now, please fill out our Foster Care Application and we will contact you right away We always have a need for volunteers to help with special events, setting up and tearing down adoptions weekends, transporting dogs to and from PACC and the vet, and working with behaviorally challenged dogs at behavior class. If you are ready to start volunteering now, please fill out our Volunteer Application and we will contact you right awayBig and small, we save them all! PS  - thanks to Purina® Pro Plan® brand DOG FOOD who so generously donates food to feed the dogs in our care.
