Please note: Yosemite West is a remote community set just outside the boundary of Yosemite National Park in the Sierra National Forest. There are no stores or restaurants in the immediate area. The closest grocery store or restaurant is 30 minutes away in either Yosemite Valley or Wawona to the south. Cell phone reception is very spotty and varies depending on which unit you are occupying. The cell phone system in Yosemite was recently upgraded to a 3G system; if your cell phone registers 2 or 3 bars consistently then you will have success logging on to the internet as a personal hot spot if you prefer (if you have that optional service with your cell provider). Secure WIFI Internet is available in the Yosemite cabin. This situation is the same at El Portal, Foresta, and Wawona, although there is cell phone reception in Wawona, which is located over an hour from Yosemite Valley

Internet is available at the Wawona Hotel to the south and at the Yosemite Lodge (see the front desk for access codes), Ahwahnee Hotel main building, Curry Village at the Pavilion and Degnan’s Deli in Yosemite Village next to the Yosemite Post Office. The WIFI at Degnan’s is very high speed and very reliable. Cell phone reception is strongest in Yosemite Village at the east end of Yosemite Valley and at Glacier Point. There is coverage at Tuolumne Meadows through Verizon. Specific coverage varies, depending on carrier. None of the rental units have air conditioning. You will find that most accommodations in Yosemite National Park do not offer air conditioning. There is a ceiling and/or portable fan in every unit to help circulate air. Even on the hottest days the temperature drops considerably after the sun goes down. Simply open your windows and a cool breeze will soon fill your unit. Most are traditional and quaint in style, and come complete with fully equipped kitchens and most have a grill on deck for summer evening barbecues. Guests can not expect up-to-the minute technology or contemporary design, but cozy cabins, with comfortably furnished living space both inside and out and home comforts such as televisions and fireplaces, that make a superb base for exploring the park.

The cabins are the only privately owned homes within the park, providing an authentic and private alternative to the hotels in the valley floor which become extremely busy in the summer vacations. The drive into the park takes approximately 40-minutes (dependent on time of year) with the Mariposa Grove of giant native Sequoia trees being just 20-minutes away from the Redwoods. With homes from 1-bedroom to 6-bedrooms, the cabins are particularly popular with families looking to enjoy the park for a few days. During the summer months guests are required to stay for 3-nights or more, which is what we would recommend to really be able to get the most of your visit to America's original National Park. The cabins are graded in three levels, from more rustic basic cabins to platinum homes with the wow-factor. Cabins range from one bedroom to six bedrooms, and are selected with our guests, based on requirements and party size. The larger homes are extremely popular in the summer months and should be booked early.

Handcrafted log ceilings and walls, carved archways, log posts, a log staircase, and carved animals complete the mountain feel. Each bedroom has it's own detailed theme. All bathroom amenities are upgraded. The home has a washer and dryer and a large rock fireplace, (firewood supplied). The kitchen boasts a 48" American Gas Range with center griddle and two ovens, a sub zero, side by side refrigerator/freezer large enough to accommodate party trays, a dishwasher, and a granite topped serving island! The dining area has a copper topped dining room table that seats twelve. The beautiful, private deck has a very large picnic table and a built in gas grill. Wawona's Sweet Retreat is a recently constructed cabin home with a spacious and modern kitchen with granite countertops, a lovely fireplace with comfy sofas surrounding and even a breakfast bar with high chairs. There is also an outdoor deck with lounge chairs, BBQ and a dining table for al fresco dining. There are two main bedrooms with queen beds, a bedroom with a twin and trundle bed and a loft room with a twin bed, so plenty of options for larger families.

All three (3) decks have exterior lighting. Cabin 33A is located a short three minute walk from the local Pinetree Market. Cabin sits on a flat lot, surrounded by mature pine and cedar trees. There is a bridge over a seasonal creek and plenty of parking. This home has been completely refurbished with a new roof, tank-less water heater, all new pipes with clean out filter, fiberglass window frames, new flooring and window treatments.

All the cabins are self-catering, and guests should come equipped with groceries to stock their kitchens. Dining options are close by from the historic Wawona Hotel which is located next to the Redwoods. The dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tenaya Lodge is also located approximately 20-minutes from the cabins and has three restaurants. Standard coffee is supplied from the lodge front desk and popcorn for the children, and there is a basic grocery store in the Wawona community. Inside the park, there are various cafes and canteens including the canteen at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls that makes a good stop for lunch or cookies. The Ahwanhee Hotel has a historic, high-beamed dining room that is popular for lunch and dinner. Part of the joy of The Redwoods is sitting on your deck with a coffee in the morning listening to the sounds of the birds, or packing up a hearty home-made picnic to enjoy in a peaceful spot along the river or on the meadows in the park.

Few places in the world rival the landscape that can be seen at Yosemite National Park. The park encompasses over 1000 square miles of scenic wild lands of the Sierra Nevada and its epic valleys and peaks range from 2,000 feet to 13,000 feet above sea level. The park is home to alpine meadows perfect for picnics, mountain forests for hiking, lakes and waterfalls, sky-scraping giant sequoias and redwood trees and plentiful wildlife from mule deer to black bears. Not to be missed is the sweeping view of the valley floor and towering rocks from Tunnel View, world-class climbers conquering El Capitan, walking the Meadow Loop, hiking up to Half Dome for the energetic and when the water is flowing, simply marvelling at the wonder of Yosemite Falls. Walking and biking are the most popular ways to see the park, but the 2 hour Valley Floor tour on board an open-air park ranger guided truck (departing from outside Yosemite Lodge at the Falls daily) is an excellent way to get your bearings and see the park with minimum exertion.

They depart at 10am and then throughout the day. For other listings and activities in the park, simply ask for the Yosemite newspaper on arrival which is the best way to find out what is going on! The guest relations or 'concierge' at the parks hotels and lodges are also excellent at recommending activities on arrival. The parks general entrance fee is $20 per car and is valid for 7 days and these can be easily obtained at the park entrance. The Redwoods are located in the Wawona area of Yosemite National Park. On the 41 north into Yosemite, the cabins see on the Chilnualna Falls Road nestled among the trees. Yosemite is an all-year round destination, best visited from spring through to autumn. From late June to September, the entire park is accessible and all visitor facilities from hotels, cabins, campsites and eateries are running at maximum capacity. During the months of July and August guests should expect traffic and lots of people as it is the most popular time to visit the park to hike, river raft, horse ride and climb.
