Eventually, you'll need to replace the light bulbs on your C30. Replacement of the light bulbs is not an overly complex job, but there are a few unique ways in which the light bulbs are mounted within the car. In this article, I'll go over the steps required to replace nearly all the outside bulbs on your C30. Note that this article does not cover the replacement of the front fog lamps as our project car was not equipped with them. Both sides of car - Replacing the headlight and turn signal bulbs requires removal of the headlight assembly from the body/chassis of the C30. Both sides of car: Open the hood and locate the locking pin (green arrow) holding the headlight assembly in place. Both sides of car: Pull the locking pin (green arrow) up and out of the car, this will unlock the headlight assembly from the chassis. Both sides of car: Carefully maneuver the headlight assembly out from the front of the car. Both sides of car: Turn the headlight assembly over to access the electrical connection.

Press the tab (green arrow) and pull the connector off the headlight assembly. Both sides of car: Shown here is the bulb holder (green arrow) for the front turn signal bulb. Rotate the holder counter-clockwise to release it from the headlight assembly. Both sides of car: Now press the old bulb (green arrow) in slightly and turn it to release from the bulb holder. The new bulb installs in the reverse order. Both sides of car: Accessing the headlight bulbs involves removing the cover on the rear of the headlight assembly. Carefully pull both locking clamps (green arrows) outward off the securing clips on the panel. Once free, remove the panel from the backside of the headlight assembly. Both sides of car: Directly underneath the cover is the low beam light bulb (green arrow). Remove this bulb by turning it counter-clockwise to release it from the assembly. It is important to remember not to touch the glass portions with your bare fingers. The oils in your skin can damage the bulbs.

Use a paper towel if you need to handle the glass portion of the bulb. Both sides of car: Pry the two mounting ears (green arrow) on the electrical connector slightly outwards and pull it off the bulb. When installing the new bulb, press the electrical connector back on and insert the bulb into the assembly. Both sides of car: Pull up on the locking tab (green arrow) and pull the electrical connector off the high beam bulb. Once again, take caution not to touch the glass with your bare fingers. Both sides of car: With the car's face squared away, we will move to the rear of the car. The taillight assembly must be removed to access the rear bulbs. Both sides of car: Open the rear hatch and locate the access panel on the rear pillar. Use a small flat head screwdriver to carefully pry out the panel using the indentations at the bottom (green arrows). Both sides of car: With the panel removed, the upper 10mm mounting nut for the taillight assembly is visible (green arrow). Remove the nut, taking care not to drop it inside. Both sides of car: Remove the lower carpeted access panel below (green arrow). You can simply pull these out by hand. Both sides of car: Remove the three 10mm nuts (green arrows) holding the bottom of the taillight assembly to the car. Keep in mind that two of the nuts are not visible in this photo.

You'll have to feel for them inside the access hole. Carefully pull the taillight assembly off the car. Both sides of car: Turn the taillight assembly around and remove the brake light holder (green arrow) from the assembly (yellow arrow) by rotating it counter-clockwise. Once removed, carefully remove the bulb from the holder by pressing it down slightly, then turning it. 20:Both sides of car: Press the tabs on each electrical connector (green arrows) and pull them out of the circuit boards on the rear of the taillight assembly. Both sides of car: Set the taillight assembly down and remove the rear fog/parking light board (yellow arrow) and the turn signal/reverse/parking light board (green arrow) from the light assembly.
