So far, she's made it to the third round of the online competition, hosted by Petplan pet insurance. On Tuesday, the dog — one of 32 dogs and cats in the tournament — will square off against Ricky Gervais, a cat from a shelter in Bucks County, Pa. With each pairing, the pet photo with the most votes advances to the next level of competition. Honey was entered into the tournament by Short Noses Only Rescue Team, or SNORT, a dog rescue group that focuses specifically on brachycephalic dogs like pugs, Boston terriers and French bulldogs. Last year, SNORT had an English bulldog in the tournament.

Now five months old, Honey, a former resident of a puppy mill, has been in a rescue group's care since she was 12 weeks old. The dog, which then weighed just four pounds, was rejected by the puppy mill because she's blind in her right eye and has limited vision in her left, in addition to a hernia that needs surgery.
Ninja Blender Plastic Gears "We were contacted directly by the mill," says Nikki Murry, a SNORT volunteer.

The dog, now weighing about 7 pounds, has to wait until she's ready to be spayed to get her hernia surgery. As the competition stands, SNORT is getting a $300 donation from Petplan for Honey's clicks. If she triumphs against Ricky Gervais the cat on Tuesday, she'll get $200 more for the rescue group and advance to the Final Fur for the chance at a $5,000 prize. The money will go toward covering costs of caring for SNORT dogs, including their medical treatment. /tournament-of-tails between midnight and 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29.Follow her on Twitter @AmyKup.
