The people were kayaking today according to the park ranger. They are from the Savannah area. Riley is the missing dogs name.H.O.P.E.Such a great day at Effingham County Animal Shelter. One Love Animal Rescue put together one of the largest transports to no-kill shelters up north. They took all but one dog who just came off his 3-day hold and had not had time for vetting.

HOPE helped with the vetting of the dogs to make them ready for transport. We were not expecting so may animals to go as they took cats too. Any donations to help would be greatly appreciated as they cleared out 14 dogs and 8 cats from our shelter. It costs us about $30 per dog and then about $15 per cat. So that is $540 to save 22 lives. 22 lives were saved!!!!WTOC : Good News: One Love Animal Rescue does largest transport everH.O.P.E. updated their cover photo.Please share it like crazy!!! September is OUR MONTH!!!added 6 new photos to the album: Little Stella (formerly know as Cleo).This is little Stella. Stella has been thru a lot. It appears Stella was abused by someone and thrown in a ditch with a severely broken hip. After being found and taken to the shelter HOPE stepped up to provide this poor 3 month old baby the surgery she needed to keep her from losing her leg. After 6 weeks of healing after her surgery Stelly finally went to her new home!!!! She has been adopted. She still has to have one more surgery to remove the pin that had to be placed in her leg to help her mend properly but she is doing quite well now.

We just wanted to thank everyone who donated to HOPE to help us with her surgery!!! She was so worth it to us and now so worth it to her new pet parents. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Allen for adopting this beautiful bundle of joy!H.O.P.E. added 4 new photos.For all you who complain the Effingham County Animal Shelter is a Kill-Shelter, well you should be complaining about people not actually spaying and neutering their pets and stop breeding them. Please note: The shelter has taken in 13 cats (moms and kittens) and 5 puppies just TODAY!!!! Come on people get your animals sterilized! It's not fair to the unwanted animals that get euthanized and it's really not fair that the staff at the shelter has to deal with your irresponsibil...ity. This is just ridiculous already. Spay and neuter you animals! If you can't afford it then you should not have gotten the pet as you're not being a responsible pet owner. At Webbs Animal Clinic in Rincon, a basic cat spay is $60, cat neuter is $50, dog spay is $80-90 depending on weight and dog neuter is $70.

This is NOT the shelters fault it is the fault of the Community! Too may unwanted animals and all today they were babies, most too young to even be adopted which means more shelter space taken up until they are of age which means less space for adoptables!!!
