If you know me, you will know Tabitha- my best friend- a 10 year old golden retriever.
Tabitha goes everywhere with me- including to work. Today she forgot it was Sunday- she started barking her head off at 530 am to get in the car to go to work. She was waking kids up ...who did not need to be up. I put her in the car ... Because she loves to wait there until 7am when we leave- She loves the car because she knows she is going to work. At 1050am we got in my daughters's car to go to church. Katie said "Mom can you please close the garage door before we leave?" When I opened my car with the garage door control to close it- there was Tabitha- panting, drooling and very short of a heat stroke. Had I not needed to close the garage door- we would have come home from church at 12:30 and she would have been dead. Yes ... me - the animal advocate- who will do anything for an animal. I thank God for having the garage door open- I know that Tabitha forgives me- I don't forgive myself. Maybe this story can help someone- I'm not sure of the moral of the story... All I know is that my best friend is okay, and this afternoon could have been very different.
