The Alliance Against Homelessness Big Brothers Big Sisters Boots on the Ground Big Reuse Big Reuse is New York City's only non-profit retail outlet for salvaged and surplus building materials. The reuse centers have everything from panel doors to high end refrigerators, window shutters to reclaimed lumber, kitchen cabinet sets to salvaged flooring. We visit one of their two locations, either Gowanus or Astoria, at least once a day to donate building materials. I would like to thank my father, Lloyd Silverman now 95 years young - who with my mother Marjorie, planted the seed of... Lloyd's Unpainted Furniture in 1950. ~~~ Prior to Lloyd's, my parents started their humble career on Division Street in Somerville when they opened Snow White Laundry in 1947. In 1970, I joined the business. Throughout the years, Lloyd's has evolved by reinventing itself. In 1978, adding to our Lloyd's operation, we opened The Furniture Depot at the Somerville Circle.

In 1981, we expanded to Shrewsbury NJ. In the late 80's teaming up with a designer from Disneyland and acquiring national attention, we launched Kids Furnitureland. In 2001, my talented wife Ghislaine, interior designer, from France was very instrumental in helping to launch our award winning Lloyd's French Shop. In 2003, we opened Antiques and Finds in Readington NJ, a worldwide source of antiques. ~~~ We would like to acknowledge three of our loyal employees. Lester Van Ness, who is responsible for our warehouse operations and has been with us for over 35 years. Susan Smock, our dedicated office manager also with us over 35 years. And Donna Lynch, our bookkeeper who has been here for all of us for over 45 years.
