Although it says he was a stray, Romeo seemed to be searching for his family when we got outside the shelter. Once he was leashed, he couldn’t get out of that building fast enough. He was anxious on the car ride, but he was anxious about pretty much everything at this point. After a little bit of time spent releasing some of that anxious energy, he calmed down quite a bit. We will let Romeo decompress for a bit, then post his bio once we have new information to share with everyone. Manny had lived in a kennel in the back yard for the entire 7 years the family had lived there. He didn’t even have free run of the yard. Day in and day out, every hour of every day Manny was in the kennel.

Needless to say, the family showed no emotion when the good Sam leashed Manny up to walk him out of what had been his prison for the last 7 years. Manny is about 90-95 lbs. He’s friendly and curious. He likes to play in the hose water. He is still somewhat aloof, but with time, patience and love, we know he will open up. We think Manny is about 8 years old. We are still getting to know him, and we are giving him lots of time to adjust to his new surroundings. As we learn more about Manny, we will update his bio. Click here to view more photos! Jake/Knight is in a foster home and available for adoption. He was returned when the living situation changed and his owner had no other options and knew it was best for Jake for us to find Jake a new forever home. We really hate it when we have to post that a dog has been returned to us. But today I am sharing the news that 10 year old Jake was returned through no fault of his own. He went straight to a foster home, thank goodness, but this XL size senior needs a new home to call his own.

A walk in the morning and he’s good to go for the rest of the day. Seniors are so easy and grateful. If you are interested in giving Jake a soft bed and lots of love during his golden years, please go to our website and fill out the adoption application. Once Jake is settled in with his foster family, he will be at lots of the adoption events! He’s good with all dogs and pretty much ignores the cats. He’s a pretty easy dog! Thank you foster mom, Annie, for opening your home to Jake! Hugo was neutered yesterday and X-rays were done. Hugo is suffering from some growing pains, which is not uncommon in shepherds. That would explain his favoring the leg. So it’s just a matter of managing the pain until he gets through this. This diagnosis means Hugo is probably even younger than 18 months, and our vets now feel 12 months is a more accurate estimate of this gentle giant’s age. He also has some very mild hip dysphasia, and we will be putting him on joint supplements right away.

Meet stylish big boy, Mr. Hugo Boss. Hugo was picked up as a stray, and he’s thought to be only about a year and a half old. Even at this young age, he is tipping the scales at over 90 lbs! A giant ball of fluff, Hugo knows how to sit. He also was pretty clear letting us know that he wouldn’t be sharing his living quarters with any feline companions. He has some muscle atrophy in one of his front legs, so we will be doing X-rays while he is under anesthesia being neutered. Once his medical issues are addressed, we will get to know more about him, and update his bio. Sweet Jaydee was listed on the kill list as a 7 year old with chronic ear infections. We know ear infections are usually pretty easily treated so we pulled her. Once we got her to our vet, we discovered that she was either pregnant or had a false pregnancy as she was leaking milk after just being spayed the day before. Her teeth are very worn (we found she has a fondness for big rocks to play with if she doesn’t have any toys available to her) and with some grey on her muzzle, it was understandable to guesstimate her age to be around 7.

Well, once this girl recovered from her horrible upper respiratory infection, she let us know that age is just a number, and if she really is 7, she isn’t buying it. Jaydee has lots of energy and she LOVES her toys. She will chase a ball, she loves the kiddy pool, it’s just go, go, go with this sweet, play driven girl. She seems to be ok with most dogs her size, but she absolutely will not tolerate living with cats. So if you would like to give this gorgeous, petite girl a chance at a wonderful life, please fill out our online adoption application. It’s the first step in our adoption process. And wouldn’t you love sitting outside with Jaydee and a coke? Click here for more photos Meet petite, beautiful Konor. Dropped off at the local shelter as a stray, Konor is between 7-12 months old. She ended up on the kill list because of an open wound just below her ear. She knows how to sit, and will paw you if you aren’t petting her or giving her treats as quickly as she would like.

Konor prefers to be the only princess in the palace. She is petite and very playful, with tons of energy. Playing catch in the backyard is not enough for this girl. With some training (she would excel at agility work), she will be an amazing dog for the right family. If Konor is the dog that will make your family complete, please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application. It’s the first step in our process, and it doesn’t obligate you to anything. Konor is looking for the forever home she’s been missing out on. Will you change the life of this little peanut once and for all? Because changing Konor’s world is just what this dog is Looking for. Meet 9 1/2 month old Ruckus. This beautiful boy was given as a Christmas gift. It’s all too common for puppies and kittens that are given as gifts to end up in the shelters. Ruckus hasn’t had any training, and doesn’t even know how to sit yet. At 72 lbs he’s very strong, and his leash manners (or lack of them) leave a lot to be desired.

Some obedience training will do wonders for this friendly guy. Couch potatoes need not apply because Ruckus will be busy making up for lost time being a puppy. When we learn more about him, we will update his bio. Breed: German Shepherd mix How could somebody take this 18 month old cutie-pie and desert him at a doggy day care? How could they intentionally give false contact information? And then come back and pick up the other dog they had left there the same time they left Diego? Diego is an affectionate boy who needs time to trust people and feels better when he has a canine companion to hang around with. His foster mom has been working very hard with Diego to reign in his young dog energy and excitement, and they are making huge strides, if we do say so ourselves. He is a quick learner and wants to please. Even his leash manners are becoming what many people only dream of for their dog. Is your home the home Diego has been waiting for? It just takes a donation of $325 to take Diego home and make him a member of your family.
