And then turned it into a (Click here for more info on my labels.) Altering your car seat may void your car seat’s warranty.  Make It and Love It is not responsible for any decisions made regarding your own car seat or fabrics chosen.  I do, however, show how to use the exact same batting from the original seat and keep the same shape and dimensions, but just change out the top layer of fabric.  But the thickness of the fabric is the same…not changing the thickness of the cover at all.  However, in the event of an accident, your car seat may or may not be replaced with a brand new one.  So consider the risk of having to pay for a new one, if your seat was damaged in a way that your seat’s company would have been willing to replace it for free.  (I have heard of companies replacing the seat even though new covers were used, and other scenarios where they would not replace the seat.  So keep that in mind.) Also, flame resistant fabrics can be used in event of fire, so choose fabrics accordingly.
(Consider using a spray such as this to treat your fabric, to make your fabric flame resistant.  But do some research to find a product suitable for you.) First of all, I purchased the yellow fabric at HB Fabrics here.  (Alexander Henry Amelie in Yellow, Matisse Collection)  Irish Setter Puppies For Sale AlbertaAnd I bought the gray fabric here.  T Shirts Daniel Tosh Wears(Ty Pennington, Lace Taupe)  Cutting Vinyl Tile With JigsawI actually purchased the thicker Decor Fabric in the grey because I knew I’d be using some of it for the canopy, and wanted it thicker.  It has a nice sateen finish and is very soft.  But the Ty Pennington collection also comes in the regular weight cotton. I purchased 2 yards of the yellow and 1 yard of the gray.
But the amount of fabric you’ll need depends on how much fabric you need for your canopy, how much of the old canopy/car seat fabrics you use, how much of each color you use on the car seat, etc. . . . . . . . . . . . Then I used the original bias tape (because, again, the color was perfect) and attached it to the car seat, all the way around the raw edges.  You can either buy some or make some of your own if you don’t use the original stuff.  (Need help making bias tape?  ……….then sewed the tubes right to the center section of the canopy (just like it was done on the original canopy), with the raw edges matched up with the outer raw edges of the center canopy strip. Then use the original bias tape like I did, purchase some, or make your own (click here for help) and encase each raw seam where each canopy section was sewn together. I took apart each shoulder cover and cut out new fabric pieces……just like above.  (If you’re wanting to create your own shoulder covers from scratch, click here for tutorial.)
Then, I made my own bias tape (click here for help) and attached it to the raw edges of each shoulder cover.  And lastly, I attached the velcro to each strap……just like the original ones. on that hard working back of yours, because you just created your own custom car seat cover and canopy.← Back to Accessories Car Seat Adapter Single (City Mini, City Mini GT, Summit X3) for Baby Jogger City GO & Graco 1971511 The Baby Jogger® City GO™/Graco® Click Connect™ Car Seat Adapter is the easiest way to turn your stroller into a customized travel system. Car Seat Model Compatibility summit™ X3, city mini® GT, city mini®By now you probably know you’ll need a car seat before you can take your baby anywhere - including home from the hospital. But with so many car seat models, and so much pressure to pick the safest ride for your little one, figuring out which one to choose can be overwhelming.
First, let us reassure you. Every new car seat on the market right now must meet government safety regulations. So, spending less money doesn’t mean your car seat will be less safe. However, more expensive car seats will get you extras like bigger canopies, easier installation, and potentially some additional safety features not currently required by law. There are three types of car seats that offer varying benefits and are appropriate for different stages of your child’s life. Although the car seat laws vary by state, infants across the country are required to be in rear-facing seats, while toddlers can be in either rear or front-facing seats as long as they meet the height and weight requirements. And in most states, older children must ride in a booster seat. Here’s a quick breakdown: Used from newborn until your baby reaches the seat’s height or weight limit (usually 22 to 35 pounds), these seats always face the rear of the car. When your little one outgrows the infant car seat, you’ll have to purchase a convertible or other front-facing car seat designed to accommodate toddlers.
These seats transform from rear-facing seats for babies and toddlers to forward-facing seats for older children. Typically, the forward-facing position can hold children who are up to 65 pounds. These seats bridge the gap between the time your child needs a car seat to when he can start using the regular, adult-sized seat belt. They help children sit higher up so your car’s regular lap and shoulder belt cross your child’s body at the correct points and hold him securely. Boosters are geared for kids at least four years of age and at least 40 pounds. Here are some things to consider as you’re selecting a car seat model: Used car seats might be damaged and may not be up to snuff when it comes to current safety regulations. If you do end of up selecting a used car seat, get it from someone you trust; also be sure to look up the seat’s expiration date and research if that particular model has ever been recalled. Fitting With Your Car Make sure the car seat fits well in your car, or in multiple cars if you’ll be switching the seat in and out of different vehicles.
Every car seat is different- and some just fit better in larger or in smaller cars. For convenience’s sake, you might also consider purchasing additional car seats bases for other primary caregivers, such as your partner, nanny, or mother-in-law. Installing and reinstalling a car seat base gets old, real fast. While it seems that purchasing a convertible car seat would be the most efficient, there is a distinct advantage to also using an infant car seat. You let your sleeping baby - you know, the one that always dozes off in the car - stay asleep. Instead of having to unbuckle and lift her out of the seat to leave the car (and ruining that perfectly peaceful nap), you simply lift the infant car seat from its base and can either snap it onto a stroller or just use the car seat as cozy resting spot if you’re heading inside to visit friends or family. If you do decide to purchase an infant car seat, then you’ll probably want to make sure your car seat and stroller are compatible.
You might select your stroller model first and then choose a car seat made by the same brand. But if there’s a car seat you absolutely love that differs from your stroller, check if a separate adapter is available to still fit the items together.
