Fostered in Memphis, TN. I am Ruby, a mostly blind and deaf 5 year old baby girl, who just wants all of your attention. I was found as a stray in Arkansas, and no one knows my story... I refuse to tell. Do you know how scary it is when you are blind and deaf and in the... middle of nowhere, with no idea how to get to your home?? When animal control picked me up, I was extremely hungry and have not had a decent meal in quite some time. You can see all of my ribs and my spine. I think they call that emaciated. Or at least that is the word the shelter used. W

hen NMSGDR sprung me from the shelter, which I greatly appreciated, even though those shelter folks were good to me and extremely worried about me... I decided that my life changed at that moment. I will not go hungry again! I will go through heartworm treatment, because I have these Wiggly things that could have been, but if they are not treated, they could kill me. That's a little scary! These rescue folks say they are going to get rid of those bad old bugs, and I will be able to have a sofa of my own! Once I get all better, after my skin treatments and my heartworm treatment, do you think I could be your cuddle buddy?? s is of HUGE importance and is time sensitive. What an amazing idea! This CA shelter in 2014 reached out to the community the week before the 4th, and asked them to come in and foster an animal (those that were eligible to be fostered) for just 4 days. Just enough time for all of the pets brought in from being scared by the fireworks, to be claimed by their owners. It not only got tons of interest for further/f...uture fostering, but it got all 60 of the foster eligible animals into foster homes for the weekend, and saved them from euthanasia due to space. It would be a ton of paperwork for the shelter, all at once if they don't already have this in place, but it would save lives! Please read this article and watch the video. It had me in tears.
