Though we know new boats inside and out, we now deal with used boats only. Used boats offer better value. We work for sellers and buyers only, not manufacturers. We don't have to choose between showing our prospects our new boat inventory first, versus our used boat inventory. There's less conflict of interest. And speaking of interest, we know what it's like to pay interest on new vessels that take time to sell. Our decades of boating experience allows us to also offer related services including burials-at-sea, charter, transportation (both on-water and via trailer), maintenance and repair, and used parts including masts and booms. STEVE CURRAN was raised in Santa Barbara California attending local schools and actively racing the 29’ Olympic Class “Dragon”. He sailed for UCLA from 1968 through 1971, graduating with a degree in Economics in 1971. Additional sailboat racing and yachting experiences include Olympic Trials in 1968 (finishing 5th), several TransPacific Yacht Races (winning his class in 1985), Commodore of the California Yacht Club in 1986 and Principle Race Officer Alpha Circle (Wind Glider Sailboard) in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

While still a student at UCLA, he started a Hobie Cat Dealership in 1969. This started his 45 years of selling boats in Marina del Rey. Among the brokerages that Curran owned or managed are Steve Curran Yacht Sales, Voyager Marine, H & S Yacht Sales, Cruising Yachts Unlimited, Blue Pacific Boating and now Marina del Rey Yacht Sales. Steve is impassioned by boating, the boating life and the community of Marina del Rey. He and his wife BJ have lived aboard various “Friendships” for about 20 years, once with their two boating oriented children Drew and Deidre. He eats and breaths the boating life and provides good counsel to new and old boaters alike. Click here to see Steve's videos and articles JIM FOYER takes the expression 'don't miss the boat' more seriously than most. He started his boating career by flying in jet airplances on and off of big boats. They did not look that big from his angle. His small boat experience began in 1962 and has included racing/sailing to Puerta Vallarta, Hawaii, San Francisco Bay and up and down both coasts.

He has been active as Commodore of Windjammers Yacht Club, Association of Santa Monica Bay Yacht Clubs (ASMBYC) and Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA). As president of US Sailing Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (USPHRF) for its first five years, he served on the board of directors of United States Yacht Racing Union (USYRU), now United States Sailing Association (USSA). Jim started selling boats in 1988, and has owned several powerboats as well as sailboats. His latest was a Grand Banks Trawler. He holds a brokers license and has almost mastered the use of his cell phone. Click here to see Jim's videos and articles TOM SUCHY was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up cruising the Great Lakes on the family fishing and ski boats. Sailing came later, when he arrived in California in 1990, and in 1993, he bought his first sailboat, a Hunter, from a local Marina del Rey broker named Steve Curran. A few years later, he traded it back to Steve for a larger Morgan 41.

This new craft served as his vessel to places as far as Puerta Vallarta, as well as his Marina del Rey liveaboard residence for the next 12 years. A licensed attorney also licensed to sell boats since 1997, Tom helped deliver two sailboats from San Francisco to Marina del Rey, assisted with delivery of a 40' sportfisher from Marina del Rey to La Paz, Mexico, and has made countless trips to Santa Catalina as well as various Channel Islands. Click here to see Tom's videos and articles JOHN CARELLO, an active boat broker in the Marina del Rey area for thirty-plus years, began selling boats in 1986, with Steve Curran Yacht Sales. Since then, he has been with Voyager Yacht Sales, Voyager Marine, Sailboats, Inc., Sailboats Unlimited, and Cruising Yachts Unlimited. An active sailor whose various cruises range from Mexico to San Francisco, Carello acquired his first boat forty years ago. “I bought it almost on a whim at the Los Angeles Convention Center Boat Show, in 1974.

It was a Venture ‘25 trailerable sail craft, that I thought would be fun to enjoy with my wife and daughter. I soon realized it was too small and upgraded to a Sun ‘27”. Today, his family enjoys trips to Catalina on their Irwin ‘38, and his daughter is now a marine biologist. Originally from Rockaway Beach, New York, Carello in his teens relocated to Miami Beach, Florida, where he became active in the spearfishing club. Click here to see John's videos and articles DREW CURRAN maintains a U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton captain's license. He has grown up and worked in the boat business his entire life. His 30 years in power and sail includes two decades in marine parts retail, ten years serving boat brokerages including engine maintenance, marine electrical and plumbing, sail rigging, rigging, sailing and boat handling instruction. Drew attended Long Beach State University where he earned a B.A. in economics, with a minor in human resource management. CARLY SALTZMAN, our marketing manager, is one of our greatest attributes.
