Mr. Edward H. Schildman, undertaker and embalmer, opened Schildman Funeral Home in Venice, Illinois, in the late 1800's. Mr. Schildman closed his Venice funeral home in 1924, and opened the chapel at 2801 Madison Avenue in Granite City, which cost $19,000 to build.

Apollo Tractor Tyres Price List Mr. John Sedlack operated Sedlack Funeral Home in Madison, Illinois, and purchased Mr. Schildman's building in 1950.
How Do You Clean A Reglazed BathtubJohn operated both locations until 1967. Louise Sedlack remained owner of the property until 1977, when it was purchased by my wife and I. During the years between 1967 and 1977, the building was used as a real estate office and later as the Special Education offices of School District #9.

Irwin Chapel for Funerals (later incorporated as Irwin Chapel, P.C.) opened in March of 1978. A second location was opened on Maryville Road in 1989. Our third funeral home, Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon, opened in June of 1997, to serve its hometown and the surrounding communities of Edwardsville, Maryville, Collinsville, and Troy. It seems hard to believe that we have been in business more than a quarter of a century. During that time I have had the privilege of visiting with my neighbors and members of our city and nearby communities. Standing at the front door as people come and go during visitations and funerals, I have learned much about the families we've served and how they are related to one another. If it were not for the acceptance and confidence of these folks, my business would never have grown. I don't think many days have gone by that I have not said to someone, "I appreciate your trust!" With utmost respect, Randall Irwin, President 591 Glen Crossing Road | Glen Carbon, IL 62034 |

When you walk through our doors, we make you feel right at home. Like a country manor in the heart of the city, we are nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood of Glen Carbon, Illinois surrounded by 18 acres of beautiful trees, manicured lawns, walking trails and picnic areas. As a not for profit organization, you can rest assured that we focus entirely on quality care and service. We offer seniors 55 years of age and older a multitude of services including quality senior living in one of our spacious Garden Homes or Apartments. For seniors with special needs, we also offer a Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing unit, secured dementia care area, and inpatient/outpatient therapy services.

Having multiple services on one campus is a tremendous benefit. Because it is not necessary for our residents to seek other facilities or adapt to a new setting as personal conditions and needs change. Experience has taught us that lifestyles differ greatly depending on age and health concerns. We encourage residents to live as actively and independently as they choose by offering a supportive environment built on emotional and physical wellness, state-of-the-art technology and above all -- a caring staff. And we are right next door to everything familiar including quality restaurants, hospitals, major grocery and retail stores, banks, emergency responders, and so much more. Better yet, we are tucked away in a residential neighborhood far removed from traffic noise or busy highways. The setting is quaint, quiet and relaxed -- and we work hard to keep it that way. For additional information or a personal tour, please give us a call today at (618) 288-5014. It would be our honor and privilege to serve you or one of your family members.
