Ian Hayfield, for the Keighley company, said: "I tend to sell factories and retail/offices but, occasionally, something a bit different comes along. "When this came across my desk, it immediately caught my attention. "I've never sold a waterfall before!" The guide price for the plot, in Barrows Lane, is £60,000. And Mr Hayfield anticipates there will be a good level of interest. "It's a fantastic opportunity for someone to buy a little piece of Yorkshire," he added. "It would be ideal for the person who just fancies something slightly unusual. "The site used to form part of a mill dam and is currently in private ownership." So what could prospective buyers do with the land? "It would be nice simply to own and enjoy an attractive rural spot," said Mr Hayfield. "There is a footpath running through it and that will continue to be the case. "Someone could perhaps keep animals on the land."
Councillor David Mullen, chairman of Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council, says it's important the site is retained as it is. "I have no problem, in principle, to the sale but we don't what changes to the land," he added. "The beck used to feed several mills – the Woodlands, bobbin and corn mills. "It's quite a remote area but you do get some walkers go down there." Hayfield Robinson is more normally associated with large industrial schemes.
