Snowy Region Visitor Centre Snowy Region Visitor Centre, in Jindabyne, is a great place for visitors to get information, brochures, maps and park entry passes before heading into Kosciuszko National Park. Winding along the Thredbo River and around the base of mountain this course is a pleasure to play. It is dotted with wildflowers, lined with eucalyptus and it has a little bit of everything providing even seasoned golfers with unique challenges. The Murray 1 Visitors Centre is located only 15 minutes from Khancoban on the Alpine Way. There is designated public visitor parking. Visitors are requested to follow visitor signage and parking instructions at the power station.The Alpine Way is steep and winding in places and motorists are advised to take care and drive to the weather and road conditions, while making your way along one of the most spectacular drives in Australia.If travelling from Cooma, Jindabyne or Thredbo, please allow sufficient time for your journey, especially during winter.Also located only a couple of minutes from the centre of Khancoban are the Khancoban Dam release gates where the water from the Scheme is released into the Swampy Plains River and then into the Murray River for irrigation. For those visitors wishing to experience the Scheme first hand, Murray 1 Power Station Public Inspections are available. Murray 1 Power Station is located on the Alpine Way, 10 kilometres east of Khancoban. Power Station Inspections will occur at 11:00am and 2:00pm, and take approximately 20 minutes.
