Stopped by the store and picked up my wife something small but beautiful to wear for new Years eve. Dr. Virga has been on staff at Spear Education, Scottsdale, Arizona since 2010.  He is a member of the Visiting Faculty.  The Spear Visiting Faculty is a by-invitation group of doctors who represent the very best of the profession of dentistry. Recognized by their peers for their professional dedication and clinical skills, they devote time to mentor and guide other dentists to reach the same level of excellence. Dr. Virga has furthered his education and clinical skills through regular, intensive, hands-on workshops, seminars and lecture classes. Dr. Virga has completed over 900  hours of continuing education in the last five years.  Most dentists seek the minimum hours required of 15 per year.

Dr. Virga is confident he is a leader among dentists in the North Country in this regard as well as nationally. Dr. Virga gives back through his work with Spear Open Wide Foundation.  He recently has been named an Ambassador for Open Wide. Open Wide is a non-profit organization on a mission to bring lasting change to the state of oral health in underserved communities worldwide. Dr. Virga has traveled to Antigua, Guatemala several times to treat local patients at the Open Wide Clinic in the small town of Peronia. He has studied extensively at the world-renowned Scottsdale Center for Dentistry at Spear Education. His personal mentor is the CEO and founder of the Spear Education, Imtiaz Manji, universally considered a true visionary in dental education. Dr. Virga was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent his childhood growing up in Long Island. He attended Southampton College of Long Island University where he studied Biology with emphasis on Marine Biology. He was a four-year starting goaltender on the lacrosse team and was selected captain his junior and senior seasons.

He was ranked nationally in save percentage all four years. Dr. Virga completed one year at Hofstra University School of Graduate Studies majoring in Oral Biology. He was accepted to Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1984 and graduated in 1988 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Virga has been practicing in Watertown for over 28 years at the Watertown Dental Health Group.  Dr. Virga has also treated patients at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home while on staff at Samaritan Medical Center from 1993 through 2011. Happily married to wife Janicca, Dr. Virga has four children. Caitlin is in the doctoral program at the University of Massachusetts where she is completing her degree in clinical psychology.  Michaelis the Specialty Portfolio Sales Representative at Craft Brewers Guild of Boston.  Ava is in fifth grade while Sienna is in third. Dr. Virga nourishes his creative side with coaching girls lacrosse, photography, cooking and spends as much time as possible with his family.
