No report on these two lakes in years.I am new to Mi and less than an hour from Cadillac. Could anyone give me some positive input on these lakes? The last post does show promise. I hope the lake produces as well as described. Of course any more current news would be great. Hey guys, My brother Kenneth and I grew up in Cadillac and fished both Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell more than you could imagine before we moved up here to Little bay de Noc. If you want walleye, one of our best spots was right at the bottom of the drop-off on Lake Mitchell behind the Sun-n-Snow Resteraunt.
Especially that first and last hour of day light. That is probably our favorite spot on Lake Mitchell to fish walleye. It should be about 28 feet deep if I rememeber right. Jigging with leadheads tipped with leeches works real good. Slip bobbering also works good. You might even try a jigging Rapala here too. Jigging Rapalas work just as good in the summer as they do in the winter. Bully Pitbulls For Sale IowaIf you like to troll, then I would recommend switching to Lake Cadillac and trolling the drop-off on the southeast corner of the lake. Property For Sale In Arpino ItalyAfter dark, move up in the shallows in 3-8 feet of water. Snow Tires For Volvo Xc90There is also some slab wood on the bottom that attracts fish along here. Also in this same area is the deepest hole in the lake.
One of our favorite things to do was simply dropping anchor and fishing this hole all day long. You will catch perch, bluegills, smallmouth, and walleye just fishing this hole. We prefered to just use a splitshot and hook baited with a leech. Just keep it a foot or two off bottom and wait for a bite. This hole will produce fish all day long. And it really gets good when we have a hot summer because a good population of the fish in the lake will stay in this hole just to find the cooler water temperatures. You will have the best pike fishing on both lakes on cloudy rainy days. And the windier the better. Due to the boat traffic on those lakes, the biggest pike have really gotten picky as to when they feed. But both lakes are plum full of pike. We actually caught 143 pike in three days fishing in the rain. And most were keepers. Just cast spinnerbaits above the weeds and you will have a ball. One other thing I noticed about the pike before moving up here was that some of them were actually starting to feed only at night.
I started catching nice pike along the north shore in front of the middle school at night in 3-4 feet of water on Rapalas. I actually think the pike have adapted to using the light from the lights that illiminate the walkway along here at night. The lights cast a fair amount of light on the water and I think the pike use it to their advantage and look for sillouettes swimming above them at night. Hope this helps and if I think of anything else, I will let you know. Fished Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell 6-10-07 from 3 p.m. till dark. Had success suspending minnows from a bobber. Caught some real nice crappies. There is a lot of boat pressure on this lake, but after 6 on Sun. afternoon it started to quiet down. Good spots for crappie were off the "Sands" restaurant in Lake Cadillac and in the "cove" on Lake Mitchell. really i will be up there for the holiday and am trying to decide if i want to bring my boat . can anyone help me out with some advice on how to fish these lakes or does the fishing suck ?

The City Park, featuring the Kris Eggle Memorial Fountain and the Rotary Pavilion Cadillac [1] is a city in the state of Michigan. The community has a population of approximately 10,000 within city limits, and over 40,000 within the surrounding two counties. Established as an industrial town, Cadillac was originally known as the Village of Clam Lake. The Village was incorporated into a city in 1877, changing its name to Cadillac. The area became a popular tourist destination following World War II, and remains so today. Cadillac is the gateway to northwest Michigan. Nearly a million visitors come each year to the area, to enjoy the scenic lakes and quaint small town. While popular, Cadillac is quiet and makes a great Northern Michigan destination for summer and winter recreation enthusiasts. Lake Cadillac lies entirely within the boundaries of the City.
This feature has led to a geographically unique community, with most city commerce taking place on the east shore of the lake—the downtown—while many businesses catering to tourists are located on the west shore. Locals refer to this western portion as Cadillac West. Knowing this terminology can be helpful if you plan to stay in the area. The residents of Cadillac and the surrounding area, like most Midwesterners, are open and friendly. If you need directions, locals will be happy to assist. Visitors are also welcome to ask for advice on where to get a tasty lunch or, if needed, a quick repair for their bicycle. Driving is the only practical means by which to visit Cadillac. The primary route, US-131, comes in from Grand Rapids. The state route MI-115 is used by visitors from the Detroit area. MI-55 comes in from Manistee and Lake Michigan, passing through Cadillac on its way to Lake Huron. Be sure to enjoy the scenery of Northern Michigan on your way to Cadillac. Wexford County Airport [3], accessible to private aircraft, lies approximately two miles north of the downtown area. Personal automobile is the most convenient means of getting around, with free parking available around the city. Parking downtown is convenient and plentiful, even during major events. Biking is highly recommended for those staying on or near the lakes. Cadillac has a bike path along the shores of Lake Cadillac, so each-west travel between the downtown and the Cadillac West is convenient. Biking on the local streets is safe, and there are a number of nature trails in the area that provide great off-roading. Rental facilities are available [4]. Walking around the downtown area is easy and safe. The Cadillac/Wexford Transit Authority [5] runs a demand response bus service. In the summer the Authority runs a mid-day fixed-route service.
