The entire body was stripped of all fittings, all rust cut out and new panels welded in, all panel joints re-leaded, full body re spray, new or re-chromed chrome work, all glass polished and replaced if scratched, wheels totally re furbished and new hub caps.

The engine was replaced with a fully reconditioned (by us) Series 3, 4.2 injection engine, at the same time the fuel tanks and entire fuel system wer...e replaced with the Series 3 fuel injection system, engine looms and engine management system, including ECU and air flow meter. A Borg Warner model 66 auto box was fitted, to replace the Type 12 that was in the car originally. The front axle was replaced with a fully refurbished S3 front axle, whilst doing so the brakes were upgraded from solid discs with 3 pot callipers to vented discs with 4 pot callipers. The rear axle was also replaced with a S3 rear axle, to compliment the replacement gearbox. All springs, dampers, bushes and bearings were renewed before fitting. All of the interior was replaced with good condition used parts, re furbished and re dyed as necessary, the entire wood set for the car was stripped and re furbished. The car ended up looking like a brand new car from 1969, but drove and performed like a brand new car from 1980 (when the S3 was first launched).

The quarter light windows on almost all XJ Saloons from 1986 to present ( XJ40, X300, XJ308 ) are bonded to the body and are very expensive to buy and to fit, instead, break either the front drivers door drop gla...ss or front passenger door drop glass, these are the easiest to replace and readily available second hand. This applies to S Types and X Types too, much easier and cheaper to replace the drivers door drop glass, than the rear in door quarter light windows ! We can supply and fit replacement glass for either front door, for a 1/3 of the price that a bonded type quarter light glass will cost to buy, let alone fit ! However, before you attempt to break in at all, call us, we may know a way to get in without breaking anything !
