I also use dimmable LEDs for the fan lights. The fan speed works, and the LED lights dim perfectly. Worked at first but then stopped working. Waste of time and money. Didn't even last a month. Everything stopped working and I even replaced the battery. No lights, no fan.I installed dimmable LED bulbs in my fan and the old controller would not dim them to the off position, so they stayed on very dim all the time.

I assembled and installed it in probably no more than an hour in a room with a 12' cathedral ceiling on a beam upon which I had installed a junction box about 12 years ago - for our previous Hunter. Little more to be said except: incredibly quiet, fits the style of our other fixtures in that room, really moves the air well - and the lights are terrific. One of the reasons we selected the Contempo is that - like its predecessor Hunter, the lights are dimmable and preferred levels can be set and retained. The ONLY complaint I have? To reverse the direction of the Contempo, I have to bring in a (high) ladder, unscrew the light bowl - and then access the reverse switch on the housing. Not on the remote - and not without removing the light bowl. Sure - that's a pain - especially in a high-ceiling application.

And will probably result in our not reversing the fan as often as we would like (not just seasonally.) But - in the long term, it's not a deal breaker - just an annoyance. Our previous hunter DID have the ability for reversing direction via the remote. Final comment: if we loved our old Hunter so much (and we did!) why did we have to replace it? Through no fault of that fan! We had a tree fall on our service (electrical) line, and due to a freak condition (broken neutral line) the fan's circuit received a momentary 240V zap before the circuit breaker kicked off - frying the old fan's circuitry. To our GREAT regret! I'm sure that Hunter would have provided decades more service had it not been for our own misfortune. Just as we're hoping the new Contempo will do. I was really excited to own a Hunter fan and it was installed fairly easy in the peak of a 12 foot great room.

Blades were really hard to put on with the three-way caps. Once it was all done we turned it on and I was immediately disappointed with almost no air movement at all. I suspect that the pitch of blades are too shallow and blade design may be too narrow at tips to move a lot of air. I like the features, style and quietness but expected more air movement. My old, cheap one moved way more air and had traditional style and blade design but was noisy. Can't return it to Costco now as it was bought before Christmas but only installed just now, or I would have. I will take this down from cathedral and put it in a small bedroom and it will do fine there, but I will not be buying another Hunter fan anytime soon.
