Sled Dog Racing Queensland Inc. is a family friendly sport and recreation club for sled sports and dog sledding. If you have a Husky, Malamute, other arctic breed or a medium to large breed that likes to run then dog sledding might be for you. All breeds are welcome. Traditionally dog sledding or mushing was a utilitarian way of hauling supplies, hunting, trapping and travelling in the arctic north of America and Asia using artic breed dogs such as Huskies and Malmutes. About:  This stunning little girl arrived at YAPS in terrible state and we weren’t sure she would survive. But little Bambi is strong and has blossomed into an active little girl. She absolutely loves other dogs and people and is just full of personality. She will be sure to keep you entertained! Bambi has reduced vision so struggles to see well in the dark so she must be always allowed to sleep inside. He loves his walks and enjoys his time out in the exercise yards playing with his canine mates. Just an easy going guy who will fit into your family very easily. Born: 18th May 2016 Born:  5th December 2014 About:  This boy acquired this name because he was spotted running around the dump area near Yaps, with so many people trying to catch him. He was scared and unsure what was going on but once at Yaps he realized that people were his friend and wanted to help him. He is an energetic boy and will need daily exercise to keep him happy and healthy. Dog obedience would suit this boy perfectly as he is smart and so willing to learn Breed:  Catahoula X Cattle Dog Born:  1st June 2013 About: Valentina is derived from the Latin word “valens” meaning “healthy, strong” and this is what she is now but not so when she first arrived at Yaps. Valentina arrived at Yaps with 7   3 day old puppies, they had been found in an abandoned house.

The puppies were in pretty good condition but this poor girl was a mess. Now with all her pups adopted and time for herself with lots of good food and medication she is now back to her striking beautiful self. Breed:  Staffy X Sharpei Born:  8th July 2015 About:  Roxy is just one of the gentlest sweetest girl you could hope to meet. She is laid back, good with other dogs and an absolute joy to have around. Born:  15th June 2015 About:  Daffodil arrived at Yaps with 11…. yes 11 one week old puppies. Mum and pups all went out into foster care until the pups were old enough to be put up for adoption ( there is now only 1 left) Daffodil (better known as “Daffy do Little” !! by her foster carers is now waiting to find a home of her own where she can be pampered and loved. She does get on with most other dogs and would relish a home where people are around quite a bit as she just adores the company of humans. Breed:  Bull Arab X

They will need daily exercise and room to run at home as they are very much your Beagle nature. They have not been around young children so a home with older children is what they need. These guys have been together all their lives and we would love to have that continue on. This boy is one happy guy who could do with a bit of training to direct his exuberance in the right direction. Born:  26th June 2015 About:  Mildred was so frightened when she arrived at YAPS but each day you can see her flourish with confidence. She now enjoys her daily plays with the other dogs and loves going for her walks with our fantastic volunteer dog walkers. Born:  1st October 2014 About:  SteveO is such an awesome dude! But despite his tough exterior our SteveO is a real softy who needs someone to show him the world is a fun and exciting place, not a scary one. Breed: Kelpie X Cattle Born:  5th June 2012 About: This is our beautiful Xena’s second time at YAPS but both times have been due to a family tragedy. She is shy when you first meet her but just needs time to get to know you. Xena does enjoy the company of other calm dogs but has not spent much time around young children. A 1800 secure fence will be a must for this gentle caring girl.
