Ideal Standard Toilet Cistern Overflowing

Replacing Amstd Fastpart Flush Syphon Washer Seals and Diaphragms The only part which wears out in a Push Button Flush syphon Toilet Cistern type is the Amstd Fastpart Flush Syphon Seal or Washer, This Washer seals the space between the Syphon or Dual Flush Valve between the Pan and the Cistern after flushing. This Seal again lifts the water into the syphon to start the water flowing. The Washer becomes worn or torn overtime due Lime Scale build up which makes it difficult for it to  sit properly after flushing the toilet which in turn causes the water to keep dripping or leaking into the Pan constantly this only affects toilets with internal overflow though. And once the Washer keeps leaking water the Inlet Valve or Ball Valve keeps filling to bring the water in the cistern or tank back to normal and then the seal leaks it again so it goes in a vicious circle which never ends and in the long run shoots up your water bill. The fault may develop suddenly or, more generally, it will get worse over a period of time.
The major problem with a worn or blistered Washer is that it cannot be seen, so before starting on this, check the water level inside the cistern, if the water is low, it can give similar symptoms as a damaged Washer. The best way to check if it is the Washer is to let the tank fill up and then turn your water isolation Valve off marked the water height in the cistern and leave it overnight. In the morning if the water level is still the same then it is your inlet diaphragm but if the water level drops then is the Washer seal Replacement Washers and diaphragms are available from our website http://www.mytoiletspares.co.uk for less than £12, The Washer and Diaphragms are Universal apart from the Twico Gebritt Flush Valve seal which is white, we also have Lever Cistern Syphon repair kits available for D Shaped Lever Syphons. Having decided that the Amstd Fastpart Washer Seal is probably the cause of the problem, and obtained a suitable replacement, the procedure is fairly straight forward
Turn off the water supply to the cistern and operate the flush to empty as much water as possible. Where the cistern is fed from a water tank and there is no shut-off valve in the pipework, it may be possible to isolate the water supply by tying up the ball-valve arm to a piece of wood laid across the top of the cistern to temporarily shut off the water – this would avoid having to drain the whole tankful of water.Dkny Curtains Drapes To minimise mess, use a sponge(or similar) to remove the remaining water laying in the bottom of the cistern.Aircon Cleaning Service In Las Pinas Take off the Dual Flush Valve by turning it gentle anti-clockwise and pull it up, you will find the washer at the bottom of the Flush Valve peel it off and replace it with the new one.Puppies For Adoption In Brick Nj
If it is the Diaphragm in the Inlet Valve, Fill Valve or the Ball Cock unscrew it from the top or side where the float arm has been attached and replace the Diaphragm. This should resolve the problem and it does not take long to do. Any questions please watch the videos on our website or Contact Us. I’m ready to engage with my 4 new followers in the past week. Hold the Flush Valve far bottom and twist it Anti Clockwise and pull it up, this will come out easily in your hand, turn it upside down and Locate the flush valve seal The Washer or Seal is at the very bottom of the flush valve assembly you should see a large Black washer with a white clip in the middle
, flat rubber washer (slightly smaller than the size of a CD). Depending on what’s going on with your seal, it could have been damaged due to lime scale build up or it could be so corroded that it’s in pieces scattered about the bottom of your tank. Once you locate it, you’ll need to remove it from the assembly. This is easier than it sounds: just turn off the water supply by turning the isolation valve off, then flush. Flushing won’t remove all of the water, so you might want to use a sponge or towel to get a bit more of it out, but it doesn’t need to be bone dry for you to get to work. Now, remove the flush Valve Seal from the Flush Valve and replace it with the new one. Once you’ve done that, put the dual flush valve back securely.
