Just cleaning the surface of your jetted tub is not enough. To ensure that your next bath is enjoyable, the jets themselves must be cleaned regularly to remove the bacteria and mold that can grow inside. When I operate the jets, a black substance comes out. What could it be and how do I clean it? I ran the tub for an hour and still have the substance. By Electus from Jacksonville, FL Answer By Faye Flag0Fill the tub with enough water to cover the jets adequately, so the water won't splash everywhere when you turn it on. Then, put 1/2 gallon of bleach into the water, turn it on, and run for 20 minutes. That should do it! Reply By James Colleran Flag0The flaking you see coming out of the jets is from the use of bleach and dishwasher detergent. Bleach kills and leaves behind the "gunk" in the pipes;

cascade just delays the flaking. The pipes need to be flushed with a product that scrapes the gunk off the sides of the pipes and jets. The Ahh-Some Bio Cleaner for Jetted is one product that works great and keeps the pipes clean.

Reply By Petra1 Flag0After reading this article, I decided to try Ahh-some for my jetted tub and I was amazed how well it worked. I followed the instructions and was amazed how much black soot floating in my tub. I can't believe that I was soaking in such filthy water! I also like the fact that it is a bio cleaner since I have several small children at home. I don't have to worry about them inadvertently consuming it. Reply Tip: FlagBy Julia Marie K.2I was surprised that folks do not realize that the "black stuff" in the Jacuzzi tub jets is black mold! There is no need to scrub. Simply fill the tub with water and then add a half gallon of household bleach. Turn on the pump and let it run for an hour. Turn off the pump and let the bleach water stand overnight.In the morning, put on a rubber glove and pull the plug to drain the tub. You must do this at least once per month. I have been using this method for thirteen years and my tub is fresh and clean. No black mold and no tub damage. Comment Archive: Flag0I moved into a home that has a Whirlpool bathtub.

By Electus from Jacksonville, FLAnswers:Cleaning Bath Tub JetsI saw this on one of those filthy house shows, the english version. They ran a hot bath and put in a dishwasher tablet, just trying to remember if you have these in the States. You could use a standard dose of whatever you use in your dishwasher; let it dissolve and stand for 10 minutes then you run the jets a few times. Hopefully this will do the trick if not repeat the procedure until they run clean. Hope this helps seems like an easy fix to me. By Kentishmaid Comment Archive: Flag0I have just moved into a house that has a whirlpool tub. What is the best product to use to clean out the jets? By Sheila from Ontario, CanadaAnswers:Cleaning Bath Tub JetsI have a whirlpool tub and all I do is fill the tub with really hot water (it has to go over the jets). While it is filling I add a cup or so of white vinegar. Turn on the jets for about 20-1/2 an hour. (I have a timer built into the wall.) You may find a dirty scum on the water as it works and you may have to clean the tub after.

I do this every month. I never got directions how to do jet cleaning as the tub came with the house, but vinegar is safer on any possible rubber or plastic parts the jets may contain. I find it is economical and eco-friendly. By thriftmeg Comment Archive: Flag0Does anyone have a formula for cleaning my tub jets using vinegar in the water? How much vinegar to a tub full of water and is there any other ingredient to add? By mo2 from Phillipsburg, NJAnswers:Cleaning Bath Tub JetsI have bathtub jets and I clean them periodically with bleach. I use a cup because my tub is big and holds a lot of water. Fill the tub to above the jets so the water circulates well. If you want to conserve water, clean the jets after someone has used the bath. Don't drain the tub and add more water if necessary. Run the motor a few minutes, turn it off and let it soak a while before draining. Scrub around the jet outlets with a soft toothbrush. I think bleach is better than vinegar for this job. It will sanitize the pipes/water jet apparatus.

BEST WHIRLPOOL CLEANING SYSTEMS ON THE MARKET Simple Touch® and Fill-Flush® whirlpool cleaning systems are designed to keep your bath clean and hygienic. Both systems clean the internal whirlpool plumbing system in less than 5 minutes and with less than 10 gallons of water. The Fill-Flush system allows water to fill the bath through the whirlpool jets. So there is no need for the traditional filling spout; only hot and cold valves. Simple Touch, on the other hand, permits the use of a filling spout of choice and provides the added benefit of automatic operation. View animated demonstration of theSimple Touch and Fill-Flush whirlpool cleaning systems in action. By their nature, whirlpool plumbing lines have a tendency to harbor soap residue, body oils, dirt and water deposits. The two patented cleaning systems offered exclusively by MTI circulate cleaning solution and fresh water through the internal plumbing system, including the water and air lines, point-massage jets and pump.

These 2 systems are not only efficient in their use of energy and water, but their cleaning effectiveness has also been documented. In fact, The National Sanitation Foundation conducted tests on the MTI Fill-Flush / Simple Touch system with Fresh Wave cleaner. The test results show that MTI's cleaning system meets the bacteria cleaning requirements for pools and spas, as specified by the National Standards Foundation (NSF) / American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in Standard 50 -- a standard requiring a 99.9% reduction in Streptococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.After enjoying a whirlpool bath, drain the tub. Then close the point-massage jets, add cleaning solution, such as MTI's Fresh Wave, in the deck-mounted reservoir, turn on the water and run for 3 minutes. Fresh water and cleaning solution circulate from air line to water line, through the pump, out the suction and down the drain to flush away any residue from the internal plumbing system. (Simple Touch simplifies this further by turning the water flow on at the touch of a button and automatically shutting it off after 3 minutes.)
