The national network of 240 Kmart Tyre And Auto service centres has announced it is getting on board with the scheme, which aims to tackle the significant problem of used tyres in Australia. When the scheme was established last year, it was revealed that 48 million tyres are disposed of in Australia annually with only 16 percent of those being recycled. Now, with the establishment of TSA and the signing of a major partner in Kmart Tyre And Auto, organisers hope the number of recycled tyres will increase year-on-year. Kmart joins the likes of Bridgestone Australia, Beurepaires, Tyrepower and others who have already signed up to the scheme. TSA says a new TSA logo will soon be visible at participating outlets, and consumers will be encouraged to support one of the 1000 outlets who have committed to recycling used tyres. “As a business, we take our environmental strategy seriously and our participation in the Tyre Stewardship Australia Scheme further demonstrates our existing commitment to the responsible recycling of end of life tyres,” Kmart’s Adam Pay said.
