Although Kohler faucets are well designed and solidly engineered, rubber O-rings and moving parts can wear out after extended use. If you notice a leak coming from below the faucet handle when you move the spout from side-to-side, the internal spout barrel O-rings are worn and must be replaced. Open the sink cabinet and locate the hot and cold shut-off valves mounted on the wall. Turn both valves off by rotating the handles all the way in a clockwise direction. Rotate the faucet handle to the left to expose a small plug button covering the handle set screw. Cover the drain hole with a rag in case you drop a small part, and pry the button off with the tip of a small flat head screwdriver. Next, insert a 1/8-inch Allen wrench into the setscrew and loosen it several turns counterclockwise without removing it altogether. Slide the handle off the square shaft and lay it aside; this will expose the bonnet on the top of the faucet body; this part looks like a dome with the top cut off. Grasp the bonnet firmly and unscrew it by tuning it counterclockwise.
Sometimes the threads are stuck with hard water deposits. If this is the case, place a rag around the bonnet, grip the base with channel pliers and loosen it in a counterclockwise direction. Next, spin the bonnet off to expose the valve and valve mounting nut. Slide the spout off by grasping the barrel and pulling upward while gently wiggling the spout from side-to-side. This will reveal two O-rings, a circular open ended gasket set in a groove above each O-ring, and a flat nylon gasket on the base of the faucet body. Remove the nylon gaskets and pry both O-rings off with your fingers; take note of their configuration while doing so. Wipe off any hard water deposits from the body with a clean rag. Replace the O-rings and nylon gaskets with the parts supplied in the Kohler O-ring kit. Ensure that you install the new parts in the same order that you removed the old ones. Lubricate the O-rings and the faucet body generously with the faucet stem lubricant supplied in the kit. Clean off all remaining deposits from inside the spout barrel and lubricate the inner surface.
Slide the spout barrel over the faucet body while applying gentle downward pressure and moving the spout carefully from side-to-side; this will ensure that you don’t disturb the O-rings. Smear some lubricant on the bonnet threads, screw it back on, and tighten it firmly by hand. Cannabis Plant Light BleachingSlide the handle onto its square shaft until it’s seated properly.
