The hulls are narrow at the waterline (skinny is faster than wide!) and have a very fine entry, flare sharply to a chine just above the water for good interior volume and reserve buoyancy for sailing in a seaway. Even in light winds, the slippery hulls and tall sail plan gives boat speed almost equal to wind speed, in conditions when most cruisers would have the engines going. The cockpit is big and comfortable, as you’d expect on a boat with a 25-foot beam. Adjustable hatches open forward acting as windscoops to keep everyone cool when they’re relaxing over lunch. Raised to starboard is the helm seat, with room for two and its own bimini, from which there’s good access to the engine controls, wheel, and sheet winches. A neat feature is the long seat aft of the cockpit, between the davits, which also folds down to the perfect height for use as a dinghy dock. The wide, flat decks are clear of impediments during crew or guest movement forward. Large louvres, forward of the deckhouse, restrict sun glare into the interior, act as perfect seats and are good steps onto the cabin top.

The anchor and windlass are on the centerline inside a hatch in the bridgedeck and the large trampoline, between the forward hulls provides a comfortable place to sun lounge. Access below is through sliding glass doors, which essentially extend the saloon into the cockpit at the same level and part of the galley counter folds out, so enhancing this effect. The large, easily worked galley is in the starboard aft part of the saloon, and is well connected to the cockpit, helm seat, and dinette. The dinette forward provides 360-degree views around the boat and seats eight in comfort. Clearly this boat is designed to stay cool in the tropics – three ports above the dinette open for good flow-through ventilation right into the cockpit. The interior’s satin-finished cherry woodwork is attractive and the laminate flooring throughout looks good, wears well, and makes for easy maintenance. The Leopard 46, Southern Breeze, is a great catamaran with plenty of space to enjoy moseying around St. Lucia and the Caribbean, at speed when needed, and to lounge around in some beautiful anchorages.
