Miniature Pinscher Rescue HoustonLinus is tired. He and his brothers, Leo and Eli, had a busy morning. The boys will be neutered and microchipped next week and are looking for loving homes. Their mommy, Lulu, came into animal control and was pulled a week before giving birth (3/14/2016). Lulu is a petite black/tan all natural minpin. I think that daddy must've been a chihuahua. Lulu will be spayed and available for adoption as well. All dogs have had extensive vet care. /adopt/application/ All dogs have a $300 adoption fee and keep in mind that they do best with another small dog to play with. Roscoe is a big boy that came into animal control as a stray almost exactly 1 year ago. I will miss him. But I know that he will be spoiled. Mom, Dad, and 2 pups. Noone said anything yesterday! I saw him this morning and his ID# was right after one of the puppies which means that they came in at the same time so I inquired. He was super scared in his kennel and squirrely so no way he was making it to adoptions. They asked if I could take him also and of course I was there within 30 minutes this ...morning to pick him up before work. Hes beyond infested with ticks just like Mom and pups. I finally got him to eat the Bravecto tonight so die ticks DIE. The pic is of just a tiny section of his ear... the white is my fingernail for reference. He is super scared and timid, just like mom. Mom ate pretty well tonight and the pups seem to be getting enough milk from her.

They arent interested in the bottle and formula at all. I am debating about doing subQ on her or not tonight. The ticks are all falling off dead on mom cause she had her Bravecto yesterday. The pups are too young for anything so I am picking them off and squishing them by hand. As soon as I saw the pic I was like uh oh mommy is a red minpin. Her owners dumped her and her 2 immature minpin pups yesterday. I end up going back out to pick them up. I brought a carrier and they load them up for me and I didnt even look at them or inspect them like I usually do since they were already loaded up and I didnt want to stress them out. The pups were squealing on the ride home so I figured that they must be hungry and mama better get to nursing. Mom and pups are dehydrated, infested with ticks like I HAVE NEVER SEEN before, full of hook worms, the pups have ant bites or something on them, they are all anemic and mom is super weak. She only weighs 7# and her frame should be more like 12# and she should weigh even more cause she should have lots of milk right now which she doesnt seem to be producing much from her life of neglect and the pups are hungry. At the vet, mom and pups all got fluids, lots of meds, etc. I went to petco and got formula and a bottle for the pups while they were all being treated and the pups drank some from the bottle once I got them home. Needless to say, today was an expensive day and tonight is going to be a long night and they'll need lots of care to improve. that would really help this little family. They live close and the boys will be able to visit and play together!!! No more fence jumping for Charlie! He came into animal control as a stray and he had been on the streets for a while. His eye and leg were injured and he had lots of scars probably from being attacked by a bigger dog. No more worrying about that though. Nothing but the good life ahead for him. I will slowly be catching up on emails, applications, etc. Ifide from the continually past due vet bill, it costs $600+/mo just to keep them clean and fed and Ive got the fat wallet of Costco receipts to prove it. Everything c...omes out of my pocket since the minpins only have a few supporters. Ive already emptied out my bank account and am at the point of closing intake indefinitely. Its been almost 15 years of heartbreak, exhaustion, and the only thing that has kept me going are the minpins themselves and when there is a successful adoption and I know that their new family will love and spoil them as they deserve.
