IMPORTANT NOTICE  OUR MISSIONThe Florida Skunk Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non profit corporation, operated by a network of Florida skunk owners dedicated to fostering and finding homes for domestic skunks in Florida who can no longer be cared for in their current situation. Our dedicated rescue workers, all holding current Florida Conservation Commission Class III Permits, are located throughout Florida. In most cases the skunk can be picked up the same day as we receive notification. If you need immediate assistance, please contact us by phone. Growing up in the country, I always knew of folks who had pet raccoons, squirrels and the like. Usually these pets were the result of someone finding an injured or orphaned baby animal and rescuing it. A boy I was in love with in kindergarten, and by in love I mean I chased him around the playground trying to make him kiss me, had a pet flying squirrel. His mom even brought it in to show our class for show and tell. I was not particularly impressed. Give me a pile of purring kittens any day. I even knew a girl who claimed to have a pet skunk at home as well, but I never saw actual evidence of its existence and frankly, I didn't want to. Our roommate Jim had an impressive collection of videos to watch when high or tripping.

He had lots of old cartoons, Fritz the Cat, obscure anime and fantasy films like The Dark Crystal. Among his collection was a movie called Fantastic Planet, an animated film from France about a planet where the native species of giants kept humans as their pets. I really loved this movie and I tried to explain to my boyfriend, who had just spent every last cent of his money on a skunk, how the skunk probably felt a lot like the human pets on an alien planet felt. My breath, however, was wasted.mommy is in pictures attached with the babies. all boys, mommy is a pure teacup. We as always, advise to seek a good veterinarian in the treatment of your pet.  We will not be held responsible for any mishaps pertaining to these documents.Skunk( mephitis mephitis) are a much more specialty animal.  Not every veterinarian  First of all,  has ever come in contact with  a Skunk .  Secondly, most vets DO NOT WISH  to care for skunk.  People who are allergic to other animals have no problem with skunks because they have no DANDER.

Step 1We recommend that you do your research to MAKE SURE that the state you live in allows skunks.Some states do not allow skunks to be IMPORTED into their state but can be bought from a breeder in that state like for example,  Michigan.Michigan allows skunks but you can only get one from a breeder in MI.Other states do not allow skunks at all.  The laws on ownership of skunks change all of the time so please check. WE SELL ONLY TO LEGAL STATES and you have to obtain a permit to own all skunks.​There are only about 15 states they are allowed in the USA.Step 2Find a Veterinarian for your skunk.Step 3SKUNKS HAVE NO HOMING SKILLS Skunk proof (Child proof) your house.  Have a nest box or place your skunk to sleep (give it an old shirt they will make their own bed.)Step 4As far as care for a skunk many people have their own ideas of what is the "Right Thing" to feed a skunk.There are a lot of products out there.The most important thing about a skunks is DO NOT OVER FEED your skunk.We have a variety of skunk colors to choose from we have spotted skunks, albino skunks, chocolate skunks and regular black and white skunks to choose from.
