The Pirelli P-Zero is part of the TireIn our lab tests, Ultra high performance summer tire models like the P-Zero are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below. Dry braking: Dry braking is from 60 to 0 mph. Dry handling: Dry handling includes how well the tires gripped in an avoidance maneuver involving a swerve into the left lane and back into the right lane; dry cornering grip on our skidpad; and subjective steering feel. Wet braking: Wet braking is from 60 to 0 mph. Prices reflect specific tire sizes. Consult your vehicle tire information placard, typically on the driver's door jamb of your vehicle, for the correct size. Don't buy used tires. Once more, Pirelli is relying on the “Zero” to consolidate its prestige sector leadership worldwide and enhance its premium category presence. So it’s fitting that 30 years after the first P Zero appeared, and after 1,000 homologations, Pirelli is now launching the latest addition to the tire family that has made history as a performance and driving excellence benchmark.

P Zero’s initial objective was to meet the growing demand for performance, reliability and safety. Over the years, the P Zero family has grown to include P Zero Rosso, P Zero Nero, P Zero Corsa, P Zero Trofeo and also the P Zero All Season Plus, developed specifically for the North American Market. The new P Zero meets the same needs as the prior versions while further reinforcing Pirelli’s Perfect Fit strategy, which insists on a carefully engineered, made to measure solution for each car model. The new P Zero will feature three variants: each designed for a specific car type with different applications and performance levels. For sports cars, the P Zero has been tailored with a less sculpted tread pattern design, favoring dynamic performance. For luxury sedans, the pattern has been adapted to feature a deeply grooved external shoulder to better absorb road surface impact and enhance comfort. Finally, the third design, the new P Zero Corsa, relies on a more aggressive tread design more closely related to the P Zero motorsport slick tires.

To further perfect the match between tire and car, P Zero OEM marked tires, created through close collaboration with manufacturers at the genesis of the car development process, add an additional level of specificity. Each OEM marked tire is the result of a multi-year R&D project dedicated to the vehicle. It is this level of detail that is at the heart of Pirelli’s Perfect Fit strategy. New technology: premium performance, exceptional comfort and control The overriding hallmark of the new P Zero is its ability to guarantee maximum stability at the highest speeds: just as Formula One tires do at the pinnacle of motorsport. The new tire’s F1 Bead technology derives directly from Formula One, utilizing an especially rigid compound within the bead area to allow a more rapid, precise steering response and lateral grip loss avoidance. This careful arrangement of compound and bead ensures that force is more evenly distributed, maximizing performance reliability. As a result, tire behavior is more linear and predictable, with the performance limit reached gradually.

This leaves the driver free to enjoy sporting performance in complete safety. Pirelli’s engineers have ensured a more even wear thanks to the Extended Range Profile for a flatter footprint, which extends the tire’s life and ultimately reduces replacement costs for the driver. The increase in the number of tread pattern grooves as well as deeper, wider channels on the surface has improved lateral aquaplaning performance, leading to a 10% increase in water expulsion capacity. This equals safer, more stable braking in wet conditions. The tread pattern design was conceived to reduce cabin noise, improving driving comfort. The transverse grooves are purposefully arranged in an out of order sequence, disrupting air percussion noise to distribute sound over various frequencies, thus minimizing volume. New modeling techniques, weight reduction and new high silica content materials (more than 80%) has led to a 15% reduction in rolling resistance, benefiting reduced fuel consumption.
