Search and see photos of adoptable pets in the Lake Mary, Florida area Our Featured Lake Mary, FL Partner: In 2004, a pug owner who was moving asked a founding member of CFPR, if she would take in her little lady Peewee, care for her, & possibly find a new home. A few months went by and she did find Peewee (now known as Mimi) a new home. Little did we know at the time that little Miss Mimi would become our very first rescue and that we would eventually become an incorporated, non-profit pug rescue. We all realized there was a void in the central Florida area concerning pug rescue, care and adoption. Somehow word spread that we were here and willing to help those in need. During the next year and half, operating unofficially, we received many calls and emails from other rescues in Florida and even some neighboring states asking if we would help them. We were very happy to help out in any way we could. After all it is for the well being of the pug no matter where they were. So, as an unofficial rescue we took in, cared for and placed ten pugs.

With the blessings and encouragement from all our pug friends in the central Florida area, we decided to officially incorporate and get our 501c3 papers filed….hence CFPR was born in June of 2006. Our hope is to continue helping all pugs in need in our area, as well as assisting our friends in our “sister” rescues throughout Florida and neighboring states. Once you’ve browsed our website or visited one of our events, then you may have seen a pug you wanted to get to know better or possibly it was love at first sight. We suggest that you fill out an application and list the pug’s name “by order of choice” on your application. Please click on the link below to access the application. Please follow the instructions on how to send it to our Adoption coordinator and she will contact you within a few days.Once we receive your application we review it, contact you with any questions and schedule a meeting and home visit. Of course this home visit is looking for nothing but the safety of the home for the pug you are wishing to adopt.

It is not a status check or a contest on who has the nicest backyard. It is simply “Will this pug be in a safe and loving enviornment for the rest of its life.” It is always said to us that we have a gift of knowing the pugs personality and knowing just by application which pug would do great in which home.

Another example is: A man just lost his pet of old age and is looking for another pet right away. He fills out an application and is not picky on which pug he gets. He just knows he wants a pug. His application is reviewed. He is living in a home with no children and no other animals, has a fenced in backyard and is retired. We look into our pug roster and see that there is a 5-year-old female pug that loves men and does not like children and chases cats. This is a great match for him. The end of the story is great.
