The Humane Society removed 295 puppies and dogs from a suspected puppy mill in Arkansas, after receiving a tip on its puppy mill tip line. Upon searching the property, county sheriff's deputies discovered the animals housed in deplorable living conditions and many suffering untreated medical issues. The dogs' owner was charged with animal cruelty, but now comes the hard work of giving these neglected animals a second chance at life. The dogs have been sent to various locations of the Humane Society Emergency Placement Partners, one of which is Great Plains SPCA. The 51 dogs coming to Independence arrived on Monday. While many of them are still undergoing treatment for various maladies, and some will need to stay under veterinary care for some time, some are doing okay. The Great Plains SPCA is inviting potential pet owners to come and meet some of the dogs. These animals deserve loving homes, and would love to find their forever homes here in Kansas City. She wants you all to see her true colors.. a happy, spunky, full of energy girl that is longing for a home outside the shelter. Ducky is a 3yo pit bull mix. She loves water, going outdoors and toys! Ducky is currently working on her car riding skills and also going to training classes with a volunteer on a weekly basis.
