The two business partners had already been in the plastics business for many years when they decided that both pet owners and pets need a better carrying crate. “Pet owners were telling us they needed something sturdier and that would fit in a car more easily,” Sangl said. So the two got to work and the rest, as they say, is history. Ruff Tough Kennels can also be found in most of the major sporting stores, including Cabela's, LL Bean and Scheels. While Ruff Tough has had some excellent national exposure, including being featured on Fox News during its National Dog Day segment, it’s really word of mouth that continues to be their best source of advertising. “Our products sell themselves,” Sangl said. “We attend various events throughout the year and our crates seem to always draw a crowd,” he added. But producing great kennels isn’t the only thing Ruff Tough Kennels is known for. “We really believe in giving back so we have participated in several fund raising events,” Sangl said. “We even manufactured a pink crate for breast cancer awareness with a portion of each sale going to the cause.” The success of Ruff Tough Kennels has prompted Sangl and Van Kalsbeek to branch out to other products, including bird transport boxes and fillet board for fish cleaning. “No matter what product we are looking at manufacturing, we know that it will always be sturdy and dependable because our customers deserve no less,” he concluded. We limit our puppies to only 1 connecting flight. Flights requiring 2 connections are not an option for our puppies. The minimum time required for connection is 50 minutes on American, 2 hours on Delta, & 1 hour on United. This is just long enough to make the connection with a few minutes buffer for delays. All airports listed below are confirmed to offer flights for us with only one connection but that could change at anytime so it's important to be flexible and, if you can, provide me with a 2nd airport preference if you live close enough to one. I'm happy to confirm a flight schedule & convenient location for you to pickup BEFORE you commit to purchase. With the number of airports available that accommodate live animal transport most of our buyers only have to travel an hour or less for pickup. Due to my extensive experience with transporting live animals via Priority Parcel Service I am a known shipper with the airlines and can assure you your puppy will arrive safe and sound in just a few hours.

Dulles airport (IAD). $500 rate applies for AK and Puerto Rico. International rate of $700 applies for US Virgin Islands. $1000 rate applies to Canadian shipments because we have to drive 5 hours one way to Dallas, TX for checkin. Air travel to Canada is now ONLY available via Air Canada airlines and puppies must be 12 weeks of age per Air Canada requirements. However, Canadian buyers may also view the many locations on the US side of the border that may be an option for you to drive to for pickup. If one of these locations will work for you, the standard $400 rate will apply and puppies can fly at 8 weeks of age.
