Spaying or neutering is one of the greatest gifts you can provide your pet, your family and your community, and it is critical in helping to make Utah a no-kill state.

Cats Rescue Swansea Spaying or neutering can help your pet live a longer, healthier life. Spaying females eliminates the risk of ovarian or uterine infections and cancer, and may reduce the incidence of mammary cancer.

In males, neutering eliminates testicular cancer and decreases the incidence of prostate disease. Spaying or neutering also can have a positive effect on your pet’s behavior. Mounting, howling, spraying urine and the urge to roam are often reduced. In female pets, the inconvenient “heat” cycle, with its messy discharge, is eliminated. Your pet’s personality and playfulness will stay the same. Through this program, we offer free spay and neuter vouchers, redeemable at participating veterinarians only. Click here to fill out our outdoor community cat spay/neuter voucher request. IMPORTANT: Our outdoor community cat spay/neuter voucher program is designed for community (feral and free-roaming) cats only and is not intended for pet cats or cats who will be placed into homes as pets. See the low-income assistance program section above for help getting your pet cat spayed or neutered.

All cats fixed with our community cat voucher must be in a humane trap and will be ear-tipped. To learn more about TNR please visit our Community Cat information page. For the safety of your pets and our staff, please keep all dogs on a secure leash and all cats and rabbits in a secure plastic pet carrier when you bring your pets in for services. For any surgery patients, cardboard boxes, wire dog crates, soft travel pet carriers or plastic bins will not be accepted. Secure hard plastic carriers are required for any cats coming to either clinic location for surgery. If you do not have a secure plastic carrier, you may purchase one from the clinic but it will be required for services. (Please note: broken carriers that are not safe or secure will not be permitted for surgery patients) For the safety of the animal during the surgical procedure there may only be one adult cat per carrier (4 months and older), kittens who are younger than 4 months of age may share a secure hard plastic carrier but there may not be more than two cats in each carrier.

Community cats who are coming to be spayed or neutered at the clinic will need to be in a humane cat trap, no pet carriers or wire dog crates will be permitted. For the safety of the animal and staff, only one cat will be admitted per trap. Multiple cats in a humane trap will not be permitted as is it not safe for the animal when recovering from surgery. Community cats are accepted for surgery on a walk-in basis each day that we are open from 7AM-10AM. We admit up to seven community cats each day on a first-come first-served basis. If our clinic is at capacity for community cat appointments for the day, we can issue a voucher to allow you to take the cat to another participating veterinary clinic.
