What he lacked was the nomination; owner Ken Ramsey declined to pay the $6,000 fee during the most recent Triple Crown nomination period. Now, that fee has risen to $200,000. After the Spiral, Ramsey proposed a split of the colt's Triple Crown earnings with any investor willing to put up the $200,000. According to the Courier-Journal, Ramsey found that investor less than 24 hours after the race was run.
