As you can see from the side-by-side photograph I've attached, the machine cleans very well—and my carpet is over twenty years old, so it's difficult to clean. The machine is heavier than the two previous Bissells I've owned, but there is absolutely no comparison as far as how quickly the carpet dries because of the more powerful suction in the Big Green. Plus, I love the bigger tanks for both clean and dirty water because of the fewer number of trips I had to make to refill or empty. If the machine lasts as it should, it will definitely be worth the money. With just one swipe of the Big Green on my carpeting, my somewhat (I thought) dingy carpet -- two cats, one dog who has had vomiting issues lately -- was restored to its original cream color, almost as if it were brand new. I never liked having professional cleaners come in for the carpeting because the front door stay opens, my dog will run away any chance he gets, the cleaner will have to go into the room where I locked the cats so I'd have to catch them and move them elsewhere. And sometimes, after paying for the carpeting to be professionally cleaned, the carpet looked about the same as it did before the cleaner arrived. It ended up paying $100+ for nothing. Renting the Rug Doctor was a hassle (renting it, getting it in and out of my car, etc.), and time would be ticking till I had to return the machine or pay for another rental day.

I so love my new toy! It pulled 15 years worth of dirt and pet dander, etc out of the carpet in 3 or 4 passes and made the carpet 5 times lighter then it was. Yes it is a little bulky and it won't quite reach all the way to the edges of the walls, however the hose attachment works great for that (the hose attachment did use more cleaning solution) and it left the carpet just as dry as the machine itself.

The cleaner also pulled sand/grit/rocks out of the carpet from who knows where (I vacuum the carpet on a daily basis) and it pulled out dog hair from a bloodhound that died almost 3 years ago (since she died I have cleaned the carpet with a hoover cleaner at least 3 times). In the attached picture you can see on the left the edge where the cleaner did not get and the clean streak in the middle of the floor with the dog laying on the edge of it. (The carpets were dry at this time and had been vacuumed 2 times). Since then I have used the hose/attachment and cleaned up the edges and they look just as clean as the rest of the carpet. I love this cleaner, the attachments, and the products you use with them. It was also easy to figure out how to use, and clean up at the end of using it. My husband even described this cleaner as amazing (he is very picky person on appliances was very very very skeptical). I used the Bissell professional 2x cleaner and it worked great and did not smell "flowery" or artificial at all.

When I vacuumed the carpet after it was dry (about 2 hours) the vacuum pulled up tons more hair and grit that the cleaner pulled up. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cleaner and highly recommend it! It always took a couple of cleanings and then the pet stains always bled back.

Having just used this on WHITE carpet we left go because we figured it was too far gone and would have to be replaced, it had hair balls from the cats that stained it, a 4 year dog that never 100% house broke went on it and a path from the garage we quit putting a runner down from just came 100% clean. Days latter when the yellow stains usually would be back, they haven't showed up. This white carpet looks brand new and is 13 years old having 3 cats and a dog that seem to always have messed on in some sort of manner. All I did was mix and strong mixture of soap in a spray bottle and sprayed the stains as I came along them. I try to clean my carpets every six months or so since I have a huge dog (75 lb German Shepherd) and four cats. I thought I was keeping up with the dirt. Was I ever wrong! I used the carpet cleaner and was amazed and disgusted by the dirt that came from my carpets. I showed my husband the side I had just cleaned versus the dirty side. You truly can tell the difference. Would I recommend this Bissell Green Machine to others, in a heartbeat!! Absolutely the best carpet cleaner I have ever purchased (and I've had several over the years). Is it a bit pricey, YES; however, it is worth every bit of money I spent on it. Definitely research where you will get the best deal for it--in my case it was Wal-Mart. I have white carpet in my living room and it's over 15 years old. I had another brand of upright carpet cleaner for over 15 years before the motor finally gave out on it.

It never got my carpet truly clean. Using this Big Green Machine got my carpets to the original white that it was when it was first laid down. It did take 2 tanks to get it to that point but it did the job, and this carpet is a Berber with an inlaid pattern to it and the brushes were able to get down into the indented pattern and get is all clean. The mistake I made on first tank of mixing cleaner was I did not put enough in. This machine takes 4 times more than a regular carpet cleaning machine. Mixed up second tank and cleaned the living room which has not been done for several years because of working all the time. Running up and back in strips cleaned the carpet like new. The tank was full of dirty and dog hair.

It pulled up dog hair and left behind to clean up like a review previous stated and Bissell replied the vacuum must not be a good one. After cleaning one room it shows me a high rated vacuum is not worth what they charge and say about it. Used sample cleaner provided. If I had to purchase this product again, I would. A word to the wise machine is a heavy piece of equipment, but is easy to use when cleaning your carpet. Couldn't beat the price Wal-Mart had it listed for anywhere on the internet. Below are a list of pros and cons about this machine before. My husband and I have 4 kids, 2 dogs and a cat. Lots of traffic in this house. Pros: Removes stains (when i say stains, this machine got out very old, impossible to remove with a average carpet cleaner), easy to operate, cord is a good lengh, suction is incredible, doesn't take long to dry maybe 20 minutes.
