Screw car manufacturers who have turned a headlight replacement in to a 3 hour job (self.cars)submitted by Just finished replacing ONE bulb on my Subaru Outback. Had to remove the front fender, get my arm in a tiny little spot and only then I could reach the bulb WITHOUT SEEING ANYTHING. I've done this job before and it took me about 3 hours the first time. Well this time, a little PLASTIC piece that fastens a clip that holds the bulb BROKE. Unfortunately, the clip is a part of the ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY and requires a complete replacement. Why the fuck is there a PLASTIC fastener. Why the FUCK is it a part of the entire assembly? Why the FUCK is a bulb replacement a 3 hour job?Buying my Outback, I was thrilled to see the oil filter right on top of the engine with a little drip pan. Engine had a lot of room to work in as well. Thought this would be a breeze to maintain. but the headlights alone will have me look up how-to on basic maintenance items BEFORE I buy a car in the future.
