Robert Griffin III's T-shirt was a violation of NFL rules. It also told non-Christians that they have no peace in their lives. Robert Griffin III, the now-former Washington quarterback (enter Kirk Cousins), was about to wear a Christian T-shirt at a post-game press conference until the NFL said...ummmm, no. RG3's shirt read "Know Jesus Know Peace" and, simultaneously, "No Jesus No Peace." The reason he was told to turn the shirt inside out had nothing to do with Jesus (see below). But, frankly, I'm glad they told him not to wear it. It's one thing to say "Know Jesus Know Peace." It's a pretty positive statement about one man's religious belief about the power of Jesus in his life. But "No Jesus No Peace" tells me that because I don't "believe in Jesus," I have "no peace" in my life. Kinda crappy and 100% negative. He has no idea who has found peace in their life and who has not. There are plenty of Christians who live life in turmoil and many non-Christians who live a beautifully peaceful existence. Somehow I had expected more of this man. The episode of course drew complaints that the NFL somehow was endorsing homosexuality and attacking Christianity:
— WORLDSTAR (@WSHHFunny_) September 15, 2014 That tweet drew a number of "oh how horrible the world is" responses. The tweeter was referring to Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend after being drafted, and said kiss being aired on ESPN about a zillion times. The incidence are, of course, apples and oranges. Or, as I heard Bill Polian say last week, "apples and furniture." CBS had the real reason he was asked to turn the shirt inside-out. Shocker - it had nothing to do with Jesus: According to NFL bylaws, players are prohibited from wearing clothing with personal messages on game-days. "Throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office."
What do you think of RG3's message to non-Christians?Non-Christians have no peace. He has a point. Christians have to have more peace than Washington fans. He should be sending inclusive messages, not exclusive ones. View All: Cleveland Browns Gear | RGIII hypes Instagram debut, uses it to unveil new logo Apparently, a Washington Redskins player not named Robert Griffin III has been getting too much attention of late.  After several days of DeSean Jackson overkill, the man known as RGIII announced Saturday that he’d joined Instagram, and he said that his first photo “dedicated to my family, friends & fans” would be posted on Sunday. And then Sunday came, with Griffin unveiling his new personal logo. Said Griffin on Twitter and Facebook, “This logo is about GIVING BACK to the people who have helped along the way.” He added moments ago, “Giving back is a big part of what WE athletes do. Very excited to share past, present & future efforts of giving back with you guys soon.”
It’s great that Griffin plans to give back.  But without details about how he plans to give back, it all looks like a lot of empty hype for his logo.  Along with, coincidentally or otherwise, a way to get Redskins fans talking about and paying attention to Grffin, instead of DeSean Jackson. Unless and until more details come quickly regarding how pulling the sheet off a new logo translates to Griffin giving back, it’s hard not to wonder whether this was simply about getting noticed at the end of a week in which his name was mentioned only in connection with the question of whether DeSean Jackson will usurp No. 10.The most 2014 storyline of this Redskins offseason thus far happened over the weekend. Maybe you missed it. If you were camping in southwestern Montana while your phone was hanging out with Icelandic ascetics and you also covered your eyes and ears with Internet-proof mud. Otherwise, you probably didn’t miss it. Still, I’m going to recap everything that happened, because it was remarkable.
It’s all so remarkable that I can’t even fathom how you’d form an opinion about any of this, other than that sports reporting in 2014 is unlike sports reporting has ever been in world history.
