It also has HEPA-class dust and allergy filtration, which sports the British Allergy Foundation seal of approval. Unique to this model is the Power Pet Plus Brush floorhead. Despite its name, it isn't motor-powered; instead it's an air-driven brush bar – the former are usually more reliable. Nevertheless, it's a light and relatively compact turbobrush with short-pile bristles and a removable brush cover for easy cleaning. This model comes with both of Samsung’s "Eco" heads, which have been designed to work specifically with modern low-power cleaners such as those in the VC07F50 range. The Eco Carpet is a well-designed suction-only head that uses small silicone blades to agitate the carpet as you move the head.It has larger rollers and a clever rotating/flexi neck for easy manoeuvring around furniture. The Eco Hard Floor head is a more basic design, with a rotating neck and combination of rubber blades and small roller wheels to glide across parquet, laminates and tile floors.The main multipurpose head has the same rotating/flexi head as the Eco Carpet tool and a smooth plastic base with just two small gripper pads for use on carpet.

While the bin isn't huge at only 2 litres, it's easy to empty and the main HEPA filter is washable to save ongoing replacement costs over time. The exhaust filter will need to be replaced occasionally, however, to ensure peak performance is maintained.The VC07F50HUVB assembles quickly and easily, but bear in mind that you'll need a cupboard to house all those floorheads and tools. The large wheels allow it to move around easily and it will follow you around tenaciously when pulled by the hose.The hose feels built to last, but is a little shorter than those on rival models we've tested. It fits to the base of the ergonomically designed handle, which has several degrees of pivot relative to the hose, making for easy detail cleaning. At 7m long, the cable is of a decent length, but a little longer would do no harm.This Samsung weighs in at 5.5kg, adding a further 1.6kg with the hose and a floorhead attached. Noise output is a little under the EU label at 76dB – so although it isn't as quiet as a mouse, it isn't intrusive either.

With the standard floorhead, Eco Carpet head and the turbobrush pet head all designed for carpeted floors, you're spoilt for choice when it comes vacuuming your pile. The Eco Carpet head proved our least favourite of the three: while its blades did agitate the carpet and lift dirt, the head sucks down onto short-pile carpet and the blades themselves drag along it. This makes the VC07F50HUVB very difficult to move around, particularly when cleaning on full power.The same can be said of the standard floorhead with its brushes and blades raised. While the cleaning is good, especially close to the edge, the sucking down on the carpet really begins to make cleaning a chore. Thankfully, with its handle-mounted power controls it's simple to reduce the level of suction to make cleaning easier.The turbobrush pet head was the star on carpeted floors. Its beating and sweeping action not only agitated dust from the carpet well, it reduced the head’s tendency to stick to the floor. This soon became our tool of choice for carpeted rooms.

Ironically, it didn't seem to clean quite as closely to the skirting as the Eco Carpet head. For cleaning edges, you may need a head-swap mid-clean. Test carpet before (above) and after edge cleaningDownstairs, on wood-covered floors, the VC07F50HUVB really came into its own with the cleverly designed Eco Hard Floor head. Its combinations of floor-sealing blades deliver plenty of suction to the floor surface as well as to cracks between planks or tiles. The built-in rollers ensure it doesn’t clamp to the surface and continues to move easily. It lacks the flexible neck of the Eco Carpet head, but was angled at a good height for the average user.The mounted tools are always to hand for detail cleaning jobs and we're big fans of handle-mounted controls to select the power level. In effect, it means you can swap from floor cleaning to upholstery to curtains to cobwebs without having to bend down to adjust power – or reach for a smaller tool.With a weight of just over 7kg loaded with the hose and a floorhead, the VC07F50HUVB is a compact and relatively lightweight cleaner.
