Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt is coming to Atlanta for the first time and Good Mews is thrilled to be participating. Strut Your Mutt may just be the most fun you can have helping to save the lives of homeless animals in your neighborhood. The annual fundraising walk and festival culminates in a day of fun for four and two-legged participants of all ages. Good Mews is pleased to offer fall reading sessions for students in grades 1—8. Does your child love to read, need extra reading practice, or would he/she like to spend time helping socialize shelter cats by reading out loud to them? The program is designed to help children sharpen their reading skills and to provide enrichment for the cats and kittens.

The interaction also teaches kids the importance of empathy, animal welfare, and community service. Each 90-minute reading session can accommodate up to 10 students, and one adult must accompany up to two students. Sessions are planned for:1:00 – 2:30 p.m.11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Be a Kitty Keeper Good Mews has a unique program called Kitty Keeper where you can sponsor a shelter cat. For as little as $20 per month, you’ll help care for a cat with special challenges that make him or her a bit harder to place in a loving home. In return, your sponsored cat will send you quarterly letters with photos and updates about what’s happening at Good Mews. What better pen pal? Learn more about some of the Kitty Keeper cats in this adorable video. Pet Bunnies For Sale In MichiganJoin a certified yoga instructor for a one-hour, beginner-level “Yoga with Cats” class on Sunday, September 11 at 11:30 a.m., or Tuesday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Good Mews cat shelter. Expect a few giggles along the way as the cats roam freely among class participants and may even curl up for a nap on a yoga mat. Classes are limited to 15 students and will take place in the main cat room at Good Mews. Your $20 class fee will go directly to the care of the cats and kittens in our shelter.
