Thrift Stores Often Have Sales Inexpensive Goods Supporting CharityThis article lists the shops in Lebanon County, central Pennsylvania, which sell pre-owned clothing and some household goods and are run by a 501(c)(3) registered charity. A few also sell furniture. It does not include consignment shops which re-sell items for a modest profit for the owner. The Lebanon area is fortunate to have many thrift shops with high standards and quality merchandise at very LOW prices! Locations of Lebanon Thrift Stores Route 422 is the Way to SaveAlthough the eight stores listed in the table below have differing street addresses, five of them, in fact, sit along Pennsylvania Route 422. Rather amazing bit of trivia, that. The other three are not very far off this road. That makes it very convenient for a shopper who wants to easily visit more than one of the thrift stores. Lebanon County Thrift Store Map Blue MountainThe Blue Mountain store is very large warehouse with a great selection of clothing and goods.
It has nice, clean fitting rooms and helpful volunteers and employees. In addition, it is connected to a related furniture outlet which the mission seems to be developing. Although this store is along Route 422, it sits very far back from the road, maybe 200 feet. Therefore, it is helpful to know the general location and to be "on the lookout" as you travel. There is abundant parking in front of the store. Goodwill Helps People Help Themselves Goodwill LebanonThe Goodwill thrift store is one of two along 12th Street in the city of Lebanon. It is in a strip mall with a Weis Supermarket, so there is fantastic parking. The store is well-lit, very clean and medium sized. The range of merchandise seemed small for the size of the store, however. Perhaps I visited at a low point or just before a stocking day. In any event, it is well worth a visit. The new Palmyra Goodwill Store New Goodwill StoreThere is a newly opened Goodwill Thrift store in Palmyra, PA. It is, amazingly, on Route 422.
It is large, clean, and worth visiting.. Humane Society Modest Exterior Hides Gorgeous Store Humane SocietyThis store benefits the animal shelter run by the society. People gush about this store with good reason: it holds many delicate and wondrous treasures, yet still sells them at thrift store prices. The ambience is lovely. Obviously, someone with design and merchandising background lays out the store. There are nooks and crannies with collectibles and jewelry, and a vintage goods room on the second floor. Finally, one medium sized room feels like a traditional thrift shop with clothing and dressing rooms. Of course, there are always two of the Humane shelter cats in pens waiting to convince a shopper to adopt them. A small parking lot is provided to the side, or one can park on the street or use a free municipal lot 2 blocks away. This store is worth the tvisit! Salvation ArmyThis store sits on its own along Route 422 east of the city of Lebanon. It has its own spacious store and well-maintained parking lot.
The store comes close in size to the Blue Mountain thift store and is organized with the same warehouse feel. However, the Salvation Army store has more sunlight and electric lighting - something I appreciate. This store has a very good selection of clothing and copious household goods. The "Jubilees"This charity is the dominant one for operating thrift shops in Lebanon (and adjacent counties.) Each of the three shops has its own character, but all have a common feel of a very homey, comfortable touch. Displays are lovingly crafted. The clothing portion is carpeted in all the stores . Following are some slight differences. Myerstown - I love the fact that this Jubille store is in the heart of Mennonite farm country. It is attached to an Ace hardware store and shares the parking lot. The parking lot includes a TWO-BUGGY parking shed. Yes, we have plenty of horse-and-buggy famillies in this section of Lebanon County. Therefore, it is natural to have hitching posts. However, the hardware store and Jubilee store very considerately provide a shed with a roof AND a shovel and large garbage can.
(Must I explain why they are needed?) Lebanon - This is the other thrift store on 12th street. The store has its own parking lot which is very small. It also has signs indicating where overflow parking is available. Some of the beautiful and unique features of the 12th Street store are trees in the landscaping, a 2-story building, the inclusion of a local bologna-makers outlet shop (sellling packages of meat which was irregularly cut, but otherwise just as good and yummolicious as the bologna sold in the grocery stores) and a snack bar upstairs. The second floor holds truckloads of used furniture and household goods; the first floor has clothing. Palmyra - This Jubilee store is in a former school building, turned sewing factory, turned store. THe hardwaood floors and stairs give it away. Surprisingly, it also has the bologna outlet and a snack bar. however, its 2 floors are organized differently than those of the Lebanon city store. The Palmyra store has the regular store upstairs and then a bargain basement.
