Faux wood blinds are classified either as a Composite, which is a blend of PVC and wood pulp or as PVC, which is an extruded PVC plastic. They can be opened or closed by tilting the slats for light control and privacy. These blinds have the look and feel of wood but are heavier in weight, available in limited colors, require a greater number of ladders to support their less rigid slats, but are lower in price. These blinds are available in 2-inch and 2 ½-inch slat sizes, in a limited range of colors and wood tones, along with a wide selection of decorative woven cloth tapes, valance and cornice options. They are very durable and easy to maintain. Faux woods will not to crack or warp, and are recommended for high humidity climates and rooms that may be subject to moisture, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. Aluminum blinds are available with three different slat sizes: the standard 1-inch mini, 1 3/8” mini, micro (1/2-inch), and macro (2-inch) aluminum slats to create the look that’s right for you.

These blinds are available in over 100 colors and finishes. Decorative cloth tapes are available with the 2-inch product. Slats are available in 6, 8, or 9-gauge aluminum. The higher gauge the aluminum the more durable the slat resulting in a lower chance of permanent bending or denting. These blinds are easy to maintain. Wood blinds consist of horizontal wood slats that can be tilted open or close for light control and privacy. Like fine furniture, wood blinds add a special touch of warmth and rich, natural beauty to any room. Wood blinds are available in 1-inch, 2-inch, 2 5/8-inch and 3-inch wide slat sizes, in a full range of finishes, from stains and paints to a rougher sandblasted finish. The 1-inch slats create a busy look, limiting your view to the outside. Based upon your specific situation though, you may need a 1-inch slat size. Wood blinds made with 2-inch wide slats provide a traditional look and are the most popular of the widths available. The 2 5/8-inch and the wider 3-inch slats provide a shutter look and offer a less obstructed view to the outside;

because the slats are wider, it takes fewer slats to construct the blind and thus the slats rest farther apart. Wood blinds are constructed out of two different types of wood 1) American hardwood and 2) Ramin wood. The PVC is a heavier product than the wood, so it requires a few more supporting “ladders” (strings) and are noticeably heavier to raise and lower (compared to wood blinds of the same size. 

These horizontal blinds are offered in 2”and 2 ½”slats, smooth or embossed textures, many colors, and standard 3”molded valance. While they are made primarily out of PVC, they have the look and feel of natural wood. Ideal choice for areas of high humidity or extreme heat because PVC is moisture proof, fade resistant and coated with a UV inhibitor to prevent discoloration. We have used basswood in both our shutters and blinds since the day we first started manufacturing our own shutters and blinds, due to its natural durability, light weight and propensity for long straight lumber. Wood blinds come in 2” and 2 ½” slats with a variety of colors and stains to choose from and a decorative 3” valance (the same color as the blind).
