Sika Wood Floor Bonding

Dallas, TX – We met with Sika’s Michael Bruyninckx to learn about Sika’s subfloor preparation and wood floor adhesives products. At Southern Wood Flooring and Supply in Dallas, Texas contractors are constantly coming in to stock up on supplies. Michael understands what the wood floor contractors are looking for and has several demonstrations prepared to show the capabilities of Sika Interior Finishing products. “I’ll have to try it” – customer in reference to Sikabond-T21 Michael will often ask contractors how they protect against moisture. Some test for moisture regularly and others have no idea what he’s talking about. Michael recommends the Sika Primer MB, which can handle residual moisture at up to 100 percent relative humidity. The moisture barrier is an important component in a wood floor system, especially when residual moisture can be present. Michael has display samples made six years ago that have blue liquid in contact with the Primer MB. Even after six years, the primer retains a perfect moisture barrier, indicating the accuracy of the 100 percent relative humidity protection.
“I use that all the time” – customer in reference to Sikabond-T21 If the contractor is looking for a stable adhesive residue, Michael will recommend the Sika Level SkimCoat. This one-component product can easily repair/reprofile concrete or can be applied directly over Sika Primer MB. One contractor paid earnest attention as Michael bent and flexed a board with the Sika Level SkimCoat without forming cracks. “I love that Sika stuff” – smart customer Michael also demonstrated the application of Sikabond-T21 over the Sika Level SkimCoat. Sikabond-T21, ideal for engineered wooden boards, is an all-in-one (low permeability, sound reducing, vapor retarding, crack bridging) wood floor bonding agent. One contractor troweled the adhesive himself and declared that it was easy to use. Another promised that he would try it out in an upcoming project.
