Sliding Closet Doors Costco

© 2015 Homak Manufacturing. Today I’m talking about one of our recent home projects that was featured in this month’s issue of At Home Magazine: the making of a walk-in closet in our home’s master bedroom! Let’s start from the beginning… The master bedroom in our home is fairly large. A dream for most homeowners, right? Well, that’s not always the case. For us, the issue was that the room being so large presented a lot of unused space yet didn’t solve our need for a larger closet. (Check out this old blog post to get an idea of the space). For the three (almost four) years we’ve been living in our house, I used the small-ish closet in the master (pictured above) combined with a dresser placed in a different part of the room, while my husband used the closet in the guest room across the hall to store his clothes. But with a baby on the way who would be taking over that closet, I knew we needed to address the situation sooner rather than later. The first option was for me to heavily pare down my wardrobe to make room for the hubby’s clothes.

(What fun is that?!) Instead, I had a better idea… What if we demolished the current closet, built a wall to close off that part of the room, and ultimately created a full blown WALK-IN closet? My husband thought I was crazy and pointed out that by building a wall we’d be blocking a window in the room. Simply have the opening be directly in front of the window and use a door that had a glass pane on top to let light shine through. He couldn’t argue with that and started coming around to the idea. And thus the project began…! The first step was to demo the existing closet, rip up the carpet, and start with a clean slate of space. The second step was to build the frame for the closet followed by hanging drywall. To save money, we tackled all the above DIY style and enlisted the help of a fellow DIY-savvy friend. From there, we hired a few professionals to do the mudding, taping, (this included scraping and refinishing the ugly cracked popcorn ceiling) as well as installing electrical (two LED ceiling lights + a dimmer switch).

These weren’t costs we anticipated at the start of the project, but they were well worth the investment in the end. After that, it was back to DIY. We took on the painting, trim install, laminate floor install (the plan was to keep the original wood flooring we found underneath the carpet but it was damaged beyond repair — see photo above), closet system configuration and install, and finally the door install. The door was an original storm door on my grandpa’s house that had been used as yard décor in my mom’s garden. She was generous enough to give it to us knowing it was just what we were after. We gave it a good cleaning, cut it to size, painted it, and hung it on sliding door tracks that we bought off of Amazon — luckily these are much cheaper now than they were a year or two ago! (Psst — you can see the other DIY sliding door in our house here.) The last part of the project came down to organizing and accessorizing. To make things orderly and easy-to-find, I opted for a variety of bins and baskets rounded up from around the house, DIY chalkboard labels and matching no-slip hangers that were on sale at Costco ($8 for a 35 pack!)

Adding a rug, floor mirror and an assortment of décor items I already had on hand completed the project. The bedroom is now better suited for our needs and we have more closet space than we know what to do with! Side note: Shortly after we wrapped up this project, I saw interior designer Tera Janelle had completed an almost identical walk-in closet project for one of her clients.

Through extensive research, Lifetime discovered that all the outdoor storage sheds on the market have a few great features, but also significant weaknesses. We've eliminated the weaknesses and combined the best features into one complete product to make the best shed on the market--the Lifetime Plastic Shed. At Lifetime, we stand behind the belief that plastic storage sheds do not need to be flimsy! We combine the strength of steel and the durability of polyethylene to create our truly unique outdoor sheds. Lifetime plastic storage sheds use integrated steel supports to provide ultimate durability. We use high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic to make our storage sheds stronger, lighter, and more durable than wooden sheds. These materials are stain resistant, UV protected, and powder-coated to prevent rusting, cracking, and discoloration. The high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic we use in our Lifetime Sheds has some big advantages over wooden, metal, or vinyl sheds. With Lifetime plastic outdoor storage sheds, you don't have to give up style to be practical.

Our plastic garden storage sheds are designed to be attractive as well as functional. We incorporate steel and molded polyethylene into wood-grain textured wall panels and simulated shingles that come in attractive natural colors with contrasting shutters, doors, and trim. Best of all, our plastic Lifetime sheds will always look attractive. No painting required, and so easy to clean--just spray it down with a hose! Plastic Lifetime sheds feature shatter-proof windows and skylights to provide ample amounts of natural light. Screened vents provide ventilation while keeping pests and rodents out. The high-pitched roof allows for plenty of headroom, and a wide doorway allows easy access when parking a riding lawnmower or storing large patio furniture. Lifetime sheds use steel-reinforced doors with full-length steel-pin hinges and double deadbolts on the interior as well as a padlock loop on the exterior of the storage shed. The windows are shatter-proof, high-impact plastic. You can feel confident that your valuable items are safe and protected while in storage.

Lifetime's outdoor storage sheds come with a range of accessories that can be customized to fit your needs. Our plastic shed kits are available in a variety of sizes that make them perfect for whatever you need to store. If you can't find the size of shed you need, you can use our shed expansion kits to customize the shed to the exact size that you desire. Additional steel-reinforced shelves, corner shelves, and peg strips, also maximize your storage space. Battery-powered lighting can be added in any of the pre-drilled holes, without requiring wiring or outlets. With an assistant and a few basic tools, you can assemble Lifetime sheds in one weekend. We strongly recommend that you use a low-powered screwdriver or a drill with an adjustable clutch to speed up the assembly process. All parts are securely screwed together every step of the way to form a sturdy, stable, weather-proof structure. All necessary hardware is included in the shed kit along with a step-by-step, illustrated instruction booklet.

At Lifetime, we are certain that we have the perfect outdoor plastic shed to meet your needs, whether you have the option of a large corner in your backyard or just want to utilize a small space in your driveway. In addition to the amount of space you have available, consider how you will be using your outdoor shed. For general storage, our plastic sheds come in a variety of sizes. We recommend evaluating your current spatial needs and increasing it by 25% to accommodate future storage needs. For oversized items that need to be stored, such as vehicles and patio furniture, our larger outdoor sheds are ideal. We offer various shelving kits to help you get organized and shed expansion kits if you need even more room! Take a look at these: For tools and garden equipment, we offer the following models of garden storage sheds with various shelving units and most of these models are compatible with expansion kits as well. Note: Before you build, consult your city ordinances and building codes to see if you need a building permit before constructing your shed.
