T-Shirt Noh8

The NOH8 campaign is a charitable organization who aims to promote overall human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest. Cudi recently showed his support for the movement by participating in the photo shoot. Volunteers who elect to be photographed are seen wearing white with a piece of duct tape covering their mouths as well as a NOH8 written on their faces. As far as I know Kid Cudi is the first major Hip-Hop artist to participate. Hopefully this will start a trend and others in the industry will follow his lead (it certainty wouldn’t be the first time). This week marks the fifth anniversary of the NOH8 campaign, and to celebrate the project’s raging success and wide reach over the years, co-founders Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley chatted with MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts about the famous faces involved and the future of NOH8 in a post-Prop 8 country. The project was conceived in 2009 as a silent protest in response to the passage of California’s Proposition 8, which amended the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
To date, more than 33,000 people have been photographed for the glossy photo series, including 119 members of Congress. Though Proposition 8 has since been ruled unconstitutional (go us!), Bouska says the movement shows no signs of slowing down. “It initially started through something that was politically driven,” he said, “but it’s really turned into such a positive message…and we want to take this message and share it with the world and show that it’s possible to make change. Change is happening all over the world.” Scroll down to check out some of our favorite (and most powerful) allies speaking volumes through silence. In no particular order: 1. Weird Al YankovicIf you’re looking to take one of those iconic NOH8 photos by Adam Bouska, you’re in luck: The NOH8 campaign is returning to Philadelphia this spring for an open photo shoot, and for a $40 donation, you can get your own picture, professionally edited. The event, scheduled for Thursday, April 9th, at the University of Pennsylvania’s LGBT Center (3907 Spruce Street), starts at 5PM and is a “first come, first serve” photo shoot. Although I’d anticipate a very healthy crowd, don’t worry. According to the promotion materials for the event: “We move fast! Please arrive camera-ready with a plain white shirt to match the signature style of the NOH8 photos. Most people tend to arrive before the photo shoot begins, but as long as someone has lined up by the advertised end time for the photo shoot (8PM for this photo shoot), they should be guaranteed a chance to pose!”
Your $40 donation gets you one edited digital NOH8 photo (no physical prints), and the satisfaction that you’ve helped the NOH8 Campaign fight for marriage equality and anti-bullying measures across the country.Hot Tub Cabins Nashville Tn Check out the Facebook event page for more information.Husky German Shepherd Mix Puppies For Sale In Ontario Be respectful of our online community and contribute to an engaging conversation. She called me up explaining that she was asked to do this "top secret" photo shoot for the . is a photo project and silent protest created by celebrity photographer and his partner , in direct response to the passage of , the anti-gay marriage act. At the same time she told me about the shoot, she also said that they would LOVE to photograph me for the campaign. The campaign features celebs and non-celebs photographed with white t-shirts, silver duck tape covering their mouths and a painted "No H8" on their faces. Brook's photo shoot concept, she explained, had her sitting while several fabulous Drag Queens pamper her every whim. She could not (gasp!) wear a simple. God no, she was a , after all. Well, she knew just who to come to: Yours truly!
I created an ivory Lurex and Linen strapless "Mermaid-shaped" gown just perfect for a Miss Universe--and for this prolific shoot. When I showed up for my shoot--with David and our dog, Benny in tow. I was greeted by former (a ) and , both finalists in the pageant. Sitting in the make-up chair was none other than , who is the co-executive director of the (and a former Miss USA). I threw off my jacket, donned a deep-v white tee and sat down, as painted my face and slapped on the duck tape. The lighting was "Oprah Fabulous" so I had a feeling this was going to be good! Two minutes into the posing, I suggested "does anyone have scissors and maybe some thread?" And the shot was done. He even got David--and our dog Benny---to take photos as well!!! We said our "Goodbyes" to Tamiko, Raquel and Shanna, who were next up. Little did we know the (see above). The next day was the of the photographs. Jeff had emailed to let me know that somehow--in less than a 24-hour turnaround time frame--my photo had made it into the exhibit!
