These Dishtowel Angels are inexpensive to make and they give you a chance to be creative with the different towels and cloths you can find. Here's how to put it together. How to Make Dishtowel Angels Here is a picture of what you will need to make this project, potholders, dish cloths, dish towel, ribbon, and scissors. I picked up everything I needed at the local dollar store for $3 and I already have some scraps of ribbon on hand. *Note, I used a bright ribbon so you can see it easily in the pictures. You may want to use something that matches better. Start by taking the dish towel and folding it accordion style. Fold the dish towel in half. Do the same with the washcloth, fold it accordion style. Don't fold in half like the dish towel though. Scrunch together the middle of the pot holder.

Use the ribbon to tie the folded washcloth to the scrunched pot holder. Put the folded dish towel in the center and bring the ribbon ends (from the ribbon that you used to tie the dish cloth to the pot holder) and tie about 2 inches down from the folded center of the towel. Bring the "arms"(dish cloth) around the front and tie with another ribbon around and inch from the ends of the dish cloth. Last Christmas, I helped my grandchildren make angels to give their teachers. We started out by hitting the dollar store for Christmas theme dish towels, dish cloths and potholders. Then we picked up spools of bright ribbon in coordinating colors. We found towels with Christmas trees, snowflakes and holly. We folded the dish towels in to pleats lengthwise. Then we folded the pleated towels in half and used about six inches of ribbon to tie the towel about three inches down from the fold.

This made a sort of fan for the head and skirt of the angel. We pleated the dishcloth in the same way, wrapping the pleated dishcloth around the angel body bringing the two ends together in the front. We tied a piece of ribbon around the ends to hold them together in front. Then we tucked the open ends back towards the middle inside to make the hands in front of the body. Next we tied ribbon tightly around the middle of the potholder to form wings. Then we slipped one end of the ribbon crimping the potholder in to wings through the back of the angel arms and tied it. A sparkle pipe cleaner can be poked down in the back and brought up and around for her halo and the angel is done. This doesn't require any glue, or sewing, just folding and simple knot tying. I like to use the potholders that have the loop for hanging in the center of one side rather than the corner so that when the wings are attached, it can be used to hang the angel on a kitchen wall for a festive decoration. If you can’t find this kind though, a loop of ribbon can be left at the back to hang her up.
