Van Hire South Wales BridgendIt would be smart, healthy and hypoallergenic. It would have the yap bred out and longevity bred in.
And, most important, it would never lose its puppy face. The breed is the newest and latest in the decades-old search for the dog-face fountain of youth and perfect pet accessory. But the American Kennel Club does not recognize the new trend as an official breed, and one expert calls some specially bred small dogs expensive “gimmicks.” “There’s always been a market for these forever-ish young dogs,” said veteran trainer Steve Haynes of Fidelio Dog Works in Austin who is working with 50 first-generation cava-poo-chons. “Until recently, specialized dogs like miniature Yorkies and miniature Maltese were the go-to dogs.” The cava-poo-chon is a cavalier King Charles spaniel and bichon frise mix bred with a miniature poodle. With the help of a geneticist and reproductive veterinarian, the tribrid or “triple cross” was created by Linda and Steve Rogers of Timshell Farm in Pine, Ariz. With a price tag ranging from $2,000 to $3,500, the cava-poo-chon combines the best of the three breeds, Linda Rogers said.
She added that there is no reason they can’t live for 20 years. The dogs weigh 10-15 pounds on average and the Rogerses offer a choice of color and two types of coat — curly or very curly, she said. The popularity of the baby look for dogs started more than a half-century ago with mail-order teacup pups advertised in the backs of magazines. Yorkies, Maltese and Pomeranians were popular for a while, and recently there have been hybrid hounds “with cutesy names that end in ‘-oodle,’ ‘-uddle’ or ‘-poo’ that come with thousand-dollar price tags,” said author and certified animal behavior consultant Darlene Arden of Massachusetts. Arden said she was unfamiliar with the cava-poo-chon, though she applauded the use of a geneticist. But she condemned “gimmicks” that some breeders and groomers use to attract unwitting buyers. “There is no such thing as a teacup anything,” Arden said. “It is a market term used by backyard breeders and commercial breeders so they can breed the smallest dogs that shouldn’t be bred and sell them for a whole lot of money.
These dogs usually end up having health problems and most veterinarians don’t want to touch them because the organs are so small.” The American Kennel Club does not recognize the cava-poo-chon. “AKC does not recognize cross-bred or mixed breed dogs as official breeds,” spokeswoman Lisa Peterson said. “These dogs are the product of two purebred parents of different breeds, resulting in a litter of mixed breed puppies, not a new breed, according to our requirements.” $400, NALC Registered Catahoula Puppies Gorgeous King Sized Long Coat German ShepherdsMaltese Breeders with Puppies for Sale The Maltese exudes great joy and delight. They are highly intelligent, animated, and playful. They are very social. They are happy and content being the center of attention whether they are with their family or in the show ring. This endearing breed is bright, loving, and a deeply devoted companion.Does your Maltese bark, howl, and cry whenever you leave the house? The Maltese coat requires daily brushing and combing to prevent matting.
The coat is extremely soft and silky, so gentle care is highly recommended. They need to be bathed or dry shampooed on a regular basis. The eyes need daily cleaning to prevent staining. It is also important to keep their ears clean and free from stray hair. They may be prone to eye problems, skin disorders, and respiratory problems. The Maltese do not do well in very hot climates or damp conditions. They may be finicky eaters and suffer indigestion. Dental hygiene is important to prevent tooth loss. The Maltese may be difficult to housebreak so crate training is recommended. They do best with early socialization. Training must never be harsh in nature. It must be done with gentle love, consistency, reward, and patience. They are adept at learning tricks. The Maltese does not need extensive obedience training, as they are naturally obedient to their Master. There are several accepted methods of house training your new Maltese puppy. The Maltese does not require a high level of exercise.
They are suitable for apartment or condominium living. They enjoy a daily walk, indoor play sessions, or a romp and run in a secured small yard. The Maltese loves to be social, so a play date at the park is always welcomed. They must be supervised and securely leashed. Ask a QuestionAbout Malteses AnonymousIs a teacup, or smaller bred Maltese puppy recognized by the AKC or CKC? How are they bred down that small with no effects to the breed? 2 CommentsAnonymousAnytime an animal is bred from its original size to smaller or even larger, there will always be effects to the breed. The Maltese's average weight and height is 6 - 11 lbs and 7 - 10 inches at the shoulder. To breed smaller dogs, the breeder will select the smallest dogs of the purebred breed and breed them together and only breed the smallest of those puppies, and so on and so forth.
The AKC and CKC do not recognize any Maltese that is considered "teacup" that is not in the set standards of the breed.AnonymousThere is no such thing as a teacup. It is just a smaller size and probably not as healthy.AnonymousCan I find a female Maltese puppy that is small but not tiny and the price range is $0-$450? 1 CommentAnonymousIt is possible to find a Maltese puppy for that price range, but please remember at the price range, you are most likely not going to get a quality bred pup. The reason why puppies cost so much nowadays is because breeders are putting much more into their breeding dogs/stock and working harder to produce the best puppies they can. Price normally will reflect on the amount of work done to a litter, but it also depends on where the breeder is and supply/demand. Always interview your breeder and make sure that they are doing everything they can to bring the best pups into the world.AnonymousAre all Maltese dogs hypoallergenic? 1 CommentAnonymousYes, the Maltese is considered a hypoallergenic breed of dog.
Anonymous asked:My family and I are very experienced, respected breeders of herding dogs. We have one Maltipoo that blew me away with his charm, loyalty, and loving nature. I am debating on buying a full breed Maltese female as a companion. How do they do in a pack situation? Our Maltipoo holds his own very well, and the larger dogs have no problem with him either. Not sure about a pure breed Maltese. Spent a week a hotel with a person that had one and it barked THE WHOLE TIME! But was extremely well trained, off leash whole time, new all basic commands. Was affectionate to me, just seemed to bark like she was never taught not too, and it entertained her! I do not want a barking puppy. Is this common to the breed or was that improper training, temperament, or pure boredom? Thanks Maltese pros out there! 1 CommentAnonymousThe Maltese is known to be a barker. They have a voice and they like to announce it. This breed is very attached to it's owners and when left alone or in a strange place, then the voice always comes out.
The Maltese would do fine in a pack situation, providing that your herding dogs don't have much of a prey drive and won't see him/her as a toy to play with. However, the Maltese is a fragile dog that can not be played with hard or be allowed to jump up and down off furniture as a puppy. With proper training, socialization, a good temperament from good breeding, you should be able to keep the barking in check.AnonymousCan I buy a teacup Maltese puppy for sale around $1,000 - $2,000? 2 CommentsAnonymousI am sure there are many breeders in your area and even on this site that would have the pup you are looking for for that price.
