Just be sure to review our adoption process and adoption policies before submitting an application. Why do we do what we do? Every year, hundreds of dogs and cats end up at area animal shelters here in Western North Carolina.  Some are strays and some are abandoned by the very people they loved and trusted to care for them. Without Charlie's Angels, nearly all of these innocent animals would be euthanized or left to die alone. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to rescuing these homeless, abandoned, neglected, and often abused animals. Some are immediately placed in a foster home, some are brought to Safe Haven, our kennel located in Fletcher, NC. From there, we host local adoption events and we work with other rescue groups in the northeast who accept many of our local dogs and cats and find loving homes for them. Thanks to this cooperative effort, there are dogs and cats that we rescued who are living in loving homes in Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia, and as far away as Canada.
Some have gone on to do amazing things, like a Treeing Walker Hound named Boomer who is now working as a search and rescue dog in Canada. What does CAAR do? Every animal rescued by CAAR is seen by a vet, vaccinated, tested for heart worms, treated for any medical conditions, and spayed or neutered. We care for each of the animals until they are either adopted locally or transported to another rescue group. If you are interested in adopting any of our rescues, click on the Adopt tab above for information about our available pets along with the necessary adoption forms. If you aren't able to adopt at this time, we encourage you to consider becoming a Foster. Foster homes play a vital role in keeping animals safe and secure while a rescue or adoption arrangement is made. There are also lots of ways to help out as a volunteer. Click on this link to complete a Volunteer application, or drop us an email for more information. To read about just some of our amazing success stories, read  Happy Tails.
And for up to date information about events and news items, visit our News page and our Blog. Every quarter we produce an e-newsletter that is full of all kinds of information and it's FREE! To receive your copy, click here now. All of this is accomplished with volunteers. There is no paid staff and as a 501(c)3 organization we rely entirely on grants, donations, and adoption fees. Please consider helping us by volunteering your time and efforts...by making a donation....or by giving one of rescue animals a loving “furever” home with you. Have you noticed that Charlie's Angels' innovative foster/adoption program with the Aloft Hotel Asheville Downtown has been making national headlines? For instance, Charlie's Angels and the program are featured in the Feb. 23 issue of People Magazine. We've also been highlighted by NBC Nightly News, Fox News Network, the Meredith Vieiera Show and in newspapers and on web sites all over the nation and world, from Dallas, TX to Taipei, Taiwan and everywhere in between.
We're very proud of our partnership with the Aloft and the success of this one-of-a-kind program, which has led thus far to 20 of Charlie's Angels dogs finding loving homes.  And we're very thankful to the volunteers who have helped make this happen, including Rick Wilson for his creative vision. But what we are most proud of is the fact that hotels and rescues from New York, South Carolina, Texas, California, West Virginia, and Florida have contacted us hoping to replicate our program, which could lead to hundreds of additional dogs all around the country being adopted by loving families. For example, when the McKibbon Hotel Group, which owns the Asheville Aloft, opens a new Aloft Hotel in Greenville, SC later this year, they will be launching a similar program.  We've been talking regularly with the rescue in Greenville that will be partnering with this Aloft so they have all the tools to make their program as successful as ours has been. We hope you are as excited by this as we are.
