Asetex Tire & Auto VIP Tires & ServiceLEBANON, Maine — Sparks from a blown tire appear to be the cause of a Wednesday brush fire along Carl Broggi Highway and Long Swamp Road in Lebanon.Lebanon Fire & EMS responded to reports of a brush fire at 12:19 p.m. off Carl Broggi Highway and Long Swamp Road. Fire personnel then responded to a second report of a brush fire at 12:31 p.m., just 50 yards away, according to a press release. It was eventually determined that the two fires, along with a third, also located on Carl Broggi Highway, stemmed from the same cause after witnesses reported seeing a truck with a blown tire shooting sparks into the brush.According to the press release, bits of tire were found along the side of the road where the fires occurred for several miles. The fire reached all the way to the Sanford, Maine, town line, and along Union School Road.Carl Broggi Highway was shut down to a single lane by Maine State Police while fire crews worked on extinguishing the hot spots.
